Default Waffles

Waffles is behaving unusually recently. I don't know whether to worry
or not.

He used to come out into the kitchen every time I was fixing a meal, and
at bedtime, because I'd give him treats. He hasn't done that for the
last few days. He used to pester me for the little bit of canned food I
give him every evening. The last few days he not only hasn't pestered,
he hasn't come out in the kitchen when I was fixing it, and he hasn't
eaten it.

He has vomited very small amounts several times. Unlike the usual
reddish brown, this vomit has been yellow.

A possible clue about the vomiting is the fact that I recently tried out
a corn based kitty litter. My daughter tried it a few years ago, and
one of her cats, who really liked corn, ate some of it. I wonder if
that's what Waffles did?

Another possibility for the change in behavior is that we've been having
some really hot weather. It's supposed to cool down this weekend, so
I'll watch to see if his behavior changes.

Needless to say, I'm not going to used the corn based litter any more.

Purrs that it turns out to be a simple case of Waffles eating what he
shouldn't have. Waffles, stop worrying Joy!

Purrs that's something simple like that. It could be a combination of the
heat and the litter.

Judith

I think it was. I haven't seen any more yellow vomit, and I've noticed
he chooses places to lie where it's coolest.

Thanks to everyone for the purrs.

Is everything ok? I was thinking hairball when I first read it. Some
of my cats have acted strangely before coming up with a good one.

I think everything is okay. He's horked up hairballs before, but those
little patches of yellow vomit weren't hairballs. He seems normal now,
except that he still isn't interested in the canned food or treats.
I've stopped serving them, because I just ended up throwing them away.
If he ever acts interested again, I'll try them again. Maybe he just
got tired of them. Who can figure out how a cat's mind works?
