Default Christmas can be Dangerous

I can't have any sort of plant-like things in my house, otherwise Buffy
tries to eat them.

Well, I found a (new in the wrapper) scented Christmas candle in the
hall closet. I guess it belonged to my mother. I'm not a candle person
by any means. It had a decoration of fake holly with fake berries
attached. I took it out and set in on a low table in the living room.
I planned to ask a friend if he knew anyone who might like it.

This morning I got up and the candle was on the floor and it appeared
she'd tried to eat the fake holly/berries. She got sick to her stomach.
Poor baby.

But that wasn't the only problem. I can only guess when I took the
candle out of the closet a piece of satin ribbon fell on the floor. She
just came into the living room trailing a foot long (not kidding!) piece
of ribbon out of her butt! OMG.

I ran and grabbed some paper towels and gently pulled the rest of the
poo-covered ribbon out of her. Oh geeze, now I feel really bad.

She seems to be fine now. I'm keeping an eye on her. I have no idea
why she would try to eat a piece of satin ribbon.

Fortunately I don't have a tree with ornaments with hooks. Hooks could
be really dangerous if you have a cat that will apparently try to eat
anything.

She's certainly keeping you on your toes.
Sophie (RB) used to sit on the coffee table behind the tree (artificial)
and chew it. the tree would suddenly tart shaking just a little.

Judith

We don't need to be kept on our toes that way! If I hadn't seen it for
myself I never would have believed it. Chew on a ribbon, sure. But
manage to swallow it whole and have it come out that way? I was
*astonished*. Thank Bast she's fine.

I had a cat many years ago, that obviously ate the play string (snake)
that was her favorite toy. SAME result as your ribbon. I removed it,
without any noticable damage. Watch VERY closely now so that toys
are't edible, OR left laying when not playing.

I didn't even know the ribbon had fallen out of the closet. I certainly
didn't intend her to eat a ribbon. It's still rather baffling she
didn't just chew on it rather than swallow it whole. I'm so very happy
it didn't hurt her.
