Odor problem - Help!
Waffles is very ill. He has cancer and is eating very little. On the
way home from the vet, he peed in his cat carrier, which is fabric. Some of it went on the car seat. I've tried water and Nature's Miracle, and can't get rid of the stench. Does anybody have any other solutions to get rid of the odor? Joy -- Joy Unlimited Colorful Crocheted Critters Photos at http://www.PictureTrail.com/joy9 |

I very nearly posted this morning asking how he is because we hadn't heard anything for a while. I don't know if this will help but have to you tried Febreze? Years ago I came home from the grocery store and did not notice a package of raw fish had fallen out of the grocery bag in the trunk. The next day I opened the car door, OMG the stench slapped me in the face. I kid you not, spritzing Febreze in the trunk then leaving it open to the air for a bit completely eradicated the smell. Purrs for you and for Waffles. Jill |

I hope you are able to keep him comfortable. Your problem with odor may be that it has been absorbed deep into the fabric and padding. If that is the case, you may need a professional cleaning. Beyond that, here are two "home remedies" that I have found helpful in the past: (1) an open container of white vinegar; (2) a pan of charcoal briquettes--the the type *without* lighter fluid. The white vinegar could be placed in an open cup in your car's cup holder to prevent it from spilling when you are driving, and the briquettes could be placed in a large tray on the floor. These "remedies" will not have an immediate effect; it will take awhile for them to work. MaryL |

I hope that he'll recover a bit and be able to eat more. It's always worrying when they don't eat much. |

Joy I had that happen when I was taking an unaltered male cat to the vet for neutering. I found that repeated drenching of the upholstery with Nature's Miracle did (finally) work, but it took a while. I've since discovered something called "Stream Clean" which worked beautifully on a blood-stained carpet. It advertises itself as a "stain and odor eliminator", but I've not had a need for the odor-removing feature since I found it. (It is rather expensive, but it certainly did a great job on my carpet.) |

I have heard of a product called F.O.N (Feline Odor Remover) that is supposed to be one of the best to get rid of the smell. With any of them, you have to saturate the area with the solution to make sure you get it all. What type of cancer does he have? |

He seems to be reasonably comfortable, and his white count after three doses of chemo was good. I just wish he'd eat more. I do use Fabreze but that may not be strong enough on this occasion. It may be an idea to ask at your local chemist if they have a recommendation. Or maybe your vet's, they must have problems like this. Purrs and prayers on their way for Waffles and for you too. know how heartbreaking it is. Judith Thank you, Judith.
