Default Ow! Help! (Not OT)

Off work today, Dave up and yours truly lying in bed with a cup of
coffee and to my surprise both cats on the bed with me- Sarsi always
comes up for her morning skritchies but Dunzi doesn't do it very
often. They get jealous if one gets more attention than the other- I
almost have to make sure they get exactly the same number of pettings
because I have a suspicion Sarsi can count -wondering how I am going
to get to my coffee before it gets cold since both hands are now taken
up with skritchie duty before long they settle down to some serious
kneading of Meowmie....

OW!

It's so hot I only have a sheet on the bed (I cannot get to sleep
unless I have something over me) so I am getting double doses of claws
one on each side. Mental note-claw clipping needs done- after this it
DEFINITELY needs done....but somehow I manage to double fold the sheet
under their claws so it gets about as bearable as it is ever going to
get. Anyway it's rather relaxing to be surrounded by loud, happy
purring cats and somehow despite the multiple needles applying their
own specialised form of acupuncture I start to doze off....

At this point just as I am falling into the arms of Morpheus for some
reason they both jump up and commence some serious wrestling...on my
stomach...with claws out!

HELP!

Ha! I misread the header to read "Owl Help." Having had the experience
of untangling a wounded great horned owl from a fence, and trying
desperately to save the poor thing, I thought "Oh. I might know
something about her owl problem."
I know a lot more about "ow!!" problems, but I don't have a solution
either! I usually don't clip claws, but they clipped Frank's at the
vets (for their own safety I suspect)....he loves to come up to me
and sink his claws in my leg to get my attention. After the clipping,
it was lovely for a while. I thought. He probably didn't!
I think if you just even clip the hooky part at the very end, it
*really*
reduces the "ow" factor.

We have been having stormy weather here and last night TuTu crawled into
bed with me about 2AM. She has been sleeping either in front of the
bathroom heat register or in my computer chair for a long time now. The
bed really isn't big enough for both of us. So I felt those little
needle sticks this AM as she made biscuits on me. Our weather turned
hot Sunday, so we do have flooding around the rivers and creeks. It
cooled off some last night so that may be why TuTu wanted to use me for
a heating pad. Best wishes. MLB

Very familiar with the problem. And we don't trim claws here.
Fortunately there are several forty foot tall maple scratching posts
in the yard.

I actually dress with claws in mind. There are a couple of sweaters
that are Jake's favorites. I avoid those on days we are likely to
both be in the house together for hours. And I've learned that
several thin layers prevent puncture wounds better than one thick
layer. Kind of like you would design a bullet proof vest.
