Default Roxy is not transparent

Roxy keeps standing in front of the monitor, and she doesn't have a
window in her midsection. She's making me lose at Supercollapse.
Apparently she's figured out that the monitor is where the action is,
since I am constantly riveted by it. This is just the modern equivalent
of lying on top of the pages of the book or newspaper the human is
reading.

My little Mimi figured that out when I had DOS and a VGA monitor.

Ah, SuperCollapse! My top score, without "winning" at Level 9, is
926,339. Is it possible to break the one million barrier?
Probably, because when I "lost", there were still 27 lines
left...

You could try picking her up and putting her back on the floor. It's so
easy to let our cats walk all over us (literally) so we don't offend them.
I've stopped letting mine do it recently. They don't seem to mind. If a
cat was on my chair and I wanted to sit there, I used to sit somewhere else.
Now I don't. I pick them up, say nice things to them and put them on a
vacant chair.
KFC has started to try to get on my knee when I am on the computer. I pick
her up, put her down on the floor and say "later.." She doesn't mind at
all, she just waits until I sit down in my armchair and then she is up on my
knee purring up a storm, which is absolutely fine.

Eeek, Pat, did you see this??

Pat has gotten over 500K, but I don't know what her current high score
is. I've only gotten over 300K once or twice, although my usual score is
more in the 100K range. You must be clearing the screen regularly. What's
your secret? I'm happy if I can clear the screen once or twice in an entire
game. You definitely could hit a million if you had 27 lines to go and
only 73K points to get in that time, if you cleared the screen even once
(90K points!).

I do that with a chair - if I want to sit down and a cat is there, I move
the cat.

But when Roxy jumps onto the desk while I'm at the computer, I know that
most of the reason she's there is because she wants to cuddle with me.
Mom-at-the-computer time has always been cuddle time, for both Roxy and
Smudge, and even Licky sometimes. I don't want to train them out of this,
because that cuddle time is precious to me. So, I put up with an opaque
cat blocking my monitor, while she stands there sniffing things, and
then pacing back and forth before finally getting herself into cuddling
position. Once she's settled in my arms, I can type away and even play
a game without disturbing her.

I posted about this mostly because I thought it was funny. And because I do
get impatient with her getting in my way when I'm playing a time-critical
game. But I don't want her to get down - I just want her to curl up next
to me and stop pacing!

My unasked-for advice: let her get in your lap while you're at the computer.
She's 22 and your time with her is limited. So enjoy all you can now!

How about giving us some tips on how to get those high scores!

Also, what type of mouse are you using, and what brand is it?

1. High bonuses seem to be obtained by getting blocks of colour
*across* the screen, rather than long *columns*.

2. *Don't* use the bombs to clear large blocks of colour that you
may have built up, until the colums are approaching the top of
the screen - when they can be a real life-saver.

3. *Clearing* the screen gives a relatively small bonus - it's
better to allow large blocks of colour to build up, rather than
completely clear the screen.

Also, what type of mouse are you using, and what brand is it?

4. No mouse! Scores obtained playing on a laptop, using the
touchpad. For right-handed operation, the forefinger left-clicks,
although right-click also works - so it doesn't matter what
button gets pressed. The index finger "navigates".

Hope this helps!
