Same here- I also take cod liver oil capusles- my mum swore by them
and when she died aged 77, she had mild arthritis in her knees easily
controlled when it played up by OTC painkillers and nothing else and
she put it down to cod liver oil so I am following her example

Not unless the cod contains the liver I guess! But worth trying -I
love cod and chips if it's done properly although my local Chinese
does the best! I keep feeling guilty when I call them and order fish
and chips- you can almost hear the guy thinking "We create the finest
Oriental meals and you want THAT? What's wrong with Szechuan crispy
lamb?" - nothing at all it's one of the best things on the menu but
sometimes only cod and chips hits the spot!

Really weird confession time: When we were kids the health service
used to hand out bottles of cod liver oil (and orange juice and
rosehip syrup) to mums with young children and me and my brothers
would every evening be called into the kitchen and given tablespoons
of the above (You might remember this Adrian!) and guess what?

I actually liked the taste of cod liver oil!

Yes, I remember, but I _don't_ like the taste of cod liver oil.

I don''t now but as a kid my brothers would ask mum if they gave me a
penny could I have theirs! And I would be up for it- I am sure I
brought a couple of books as a result of those times when mum was busy
and left us to it (she would check the bottle afterwards) and I got
those pennies!

The problem I find with most people is that they take it for a month and if
it doesn't work by then, they stop and say no good. I was almost done with
my second "large" bottle when I got up one morning and noticed my hip didn't
hurt anymore. It is to "rebuild" and that takes time.

LOL, that's funny. In the US that would be like calling a Chinese
restaurant and ordering a cheeseburger.

Oh, gross! My mother used to give us kids a spoonful of cod liver oil
every morning, and I will never forget that ghastly taste. We would
stand there armed with a glass of orange juice, ready to wash it down,
but there was still that first moment when all you could taste was cod.

Recently a friend of mine was eating bread dipped in cod liver oil,
which she really likes. I figured enough years had gone by that maybe
my tastes have changed, so I tried some. UGH!!! Nope, they hadn't.

Joyce - takes fish oil in capsules
