Victor's story about catly aim has got me thinking. Where do your owners
like to barf, arf, call Ralph, or whatever you call it when the cat vomits? Our prefer to toss their kibble in the door way between our bedroom and the hallway as it seems to be more prominent and appreciated there. Or am I just missing something? Pam S. worried now |

Hugs, CatNipped When we first got him, Sonny used to rush down to the basement to barf. We thought that was wonderful. Unfortunately, now he does it wherever he happens to be, usually on the carpet. Don't ask me (or Mom) what possessed her to have WHITE carpet installed. Jill |

Frank and Nikki used to seek out a rug every time. Once I had a pot of grass on the window sill. Frank would jump up, eat some grass, then jump down and run to a rug and bring up the grass he'd just eaten. Then he went back to eat some more grass. Then he jumped down, ran to *another* rug and brought up the grass. And so on until all my rugs were 'marked'. Damn I miss that boy. Luckily, Mir and Caliban hardly ever barf, and I don't even keep rugs on my floors any more. It's just laminate or tile, so easy to clean up any mess. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. Pam S. worried now They prefer to yak on the living room/hall carpeting. The color of the carpet there co-ordinates so well with cat puke, that it's impossible to see and it's more likely to be stepped in. OTOH, one anonymous cat did choose to jump up on my cutting/sewing table, and barf on a hardback, out-of-print, BORROWED, quilt pattern book, lying open. It was the only thing in this whole house that did not belong to me. Thank goodness for Amazon. I found an identical used book to replace that one. It was completely ruined. Sherry |

Pam S. worried now Oh, on carpets, of course. Whether it's depositing a meal, or getting rid of a hairball. Or rugs--the paler the better. The persian rug in the living room is tops. But open books, that's a definite bulls eye in cat thought. If they can hurk it up in a place I don't notice at first, that must mean extra points. They can't ever toss up on the linoleum, of course. Fibers of some sort always have to be involved. Melissa |

Carpet is definitely preferred over easier to clean surfaces. Or if on
the hard floor, the barf must land on something like papers or a jacket left on the floor. If the felonious feline is on my desk, the barf must both ruin the paper work on the desk and run off the side onto the floor. When we recarpeted our old house, we chose a color that would just about hide the stains. And we have 3, yes, 3 different carpet shampooer machines (The Bissell SpotBot gets the most use). One particularly memorable barf occurred on a morning where we were preparing to show the house. Mithu started the pre-barf warm up and DH tried to chase him onto the kitchen lino. Instead, Mithu ran behind the sofa and did a projectile running spew all over the floor vent, sofa slip cover and carpet all along the back of the sofa. I was 2/3 of the way to work when I got the text message. I actually did turn around and go home to clean and cover up the mess as well as could be. Our temp housing apartment where we are now has a number of new additions to the carpet as well. Sigh. -Caroline S. Well, then...no wonder they don't bother to barf. Where would be the fun? But I must add that my two just don't get it. With all the carpet and blankets available, they mostly barf on the more cleanable hardwood and tile. Will has even gone so far as to actually barf on the towel with which I provided myself in anticipation of the event. In the cat kingdom, that must be treason. -- Wayne M. |
