Just a small correction. There are between 600 and 800 kinds of Australia
eucalyptus (assuming the tour guide was telling the truth). Incidentally,
koalas can only eat ten of those varieties.

I thought I read somewhere that there were two kinds, but maybe what it
said was that some kinds have strong wood that's good for building, and
some don't. Apparently the would-be entrepreneur who brought eucalyptus
to California brought one of the weaker kinds. Weaker in terms of wood
that's good for building, but not weak in terms of being able to survive
successfully in our environment. It's done quite well that way.
