How is your weather?
Daniel Mahoney kirjoitti:
Ours is a little cooler than I expected: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvl4G8RQj9I It's at least partially on-topic - Ranger is on part of the clip. It's 6.40 am and there are about 4-5 degrees C (about 40 F). Snow came and went, and the streets look wet when I look out of the window, but it doesn't look like it's raining. Rain is on the forecast tho... Some Finnish winter this is... :/ -- Christine in Finland christal63 (at) gmail (dot) com |

You don't have to shovel snow. You just have to wait for the maintenance crew to show up and clear the walkways of the high-rise. Ranger is such a brave boy. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. It grew to be humongous. These bushes are quite hardy. Yes, we have lots of lilacs around here and they weather our Finnish winters without any help from hoomins. There's one right outside the cats' enclosure and it seems to grow by leaps and bounds. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

Spraying the shovel works. After being married for 30 years to someone in a
wheelchair, I was given the trick years ago and found it worked. I was the official shovvler for the family. "Daniel Mahoney" wrote in message ... Just a couple of friendly tips for you after seeing your video: if you spray your (dry) shovel with Pam or WD40, the snow won't stick to it and it will be a lighter job. Second, is that a garbage bag on your lilacs? If so, you'll want to poke some air holes, otherwise you'll have a mould problem by spring. That's why people cover their shrubs with burlap, so things can breathe. Still purring for Sammy to come home. Bobble I'll give that shovel idea a try. The lilacs are surrounded by a plastic mesh tube, filled with dry leaves, then wrapped with coarse linen. The garbage bags are to keep rain out and have some pretty big holes in the sides. |

Heh, it's been 60 degrees here in SC for weeks now. And apparently back home in west TN, too. Weird, this time it's normally 30 degrees colder. I'm walking around in shorts and tank tops. Any Sammy news? Jill |

The foal had frost on her coat when I went up to feed the horses this morning, but oh my, were the fields beautiful as they glistened in the frost as the sun came up. Helen M |

We have about the same amount of snow on the ground as shown in your clip. Snow and freezing rain this a.m., turning into snow rain mix later on. I am thinking of sprinkling some cat litter as I walk out to the bus stop to improve traction. Winnie |

You guys probably don't want to know what the weather's like here. But what the hell, you asked. Today it was about 65 degrees F, sunny and very pleasant. No snow, no ice, no sweltering heat, and very little humidity. Just a very high cost of living. Ah, wish I can winter in the Bay area. Some of my friends already left for Florida and the west coast to spend their winter there/ Winnie -- Joyce * ^..^ (To email me, remove the X's from my user name.) |

Any Sammy news?
Jill Nope. And no new calls with reports of sightings. The folks at the shelter now know me and I don't have to tell them that I want to look at the new arrivals - they just take me right back. Dan |

Any Sammy news? Jill Nashville, Tennessee had mild weather up until a couple of weeks ago, at which point it abruptly turned colder. Today we are having mixed drizzle and snow flurries, with a current temperature of 37 degrees Fahrenheit, and perhaps half an inch of accumulated snow and frozen rain expected by tomorrow morning. If Nashville is holding true to form, people are probably going to clear out most of the milk, bread, and toilet paper from the grocery stores (any mention of snow in the forecast makes those three items sell as if a month-long blizzard had been predicted). -- John F.
