This is a long while after your post (2014) but my cat does EXACTLY the same as yours. She is 19 years old and a bit senile, also has kidney problems (stage 2) and thyroid now at level 17. She has been doing this for at least 8 months poss. more. Various vets have not been able to come up with an answer. She has had antibiotics and I don't think its the litter tray (under the floor storage plastic boxes I use) It was suggested that the litter tray might be too high so I put down a cut down version but she ignored this. She pees in one tray and poos in another. She also takes quite a while to actually get to the peeing stage, walks about for sometimes an hour. It worries me, although she is OK the rest of the time. Currently the vet is trying her on Cystophan capsules which I mix in with her food. If this has any effect I will post on here. As I said, its a long while since this post, but this might be of help to others. |
