Suz has actually said that Spicey's a mean drunk. Fortunately, I haven't
seen it yet. Maybe that was just a ******* Human Trick?

I think that refers to cats, not humans!
I actually laughed out loud when you said you seriously considered jumping
10 feet over the banister. I love your stories - you have a wonderful turn
of phrase.
You are doing wonders for Spicey.

Da nip had no effect at all on KFC (perhaps as well) and only a limited
effect on Boyfie which is a bit disappointing as he is such a serious,
earnest and dignified cat that I'd just love him to get stoned out of his
head now and again!

I'm strangely pleased with myself that you were amused by that. I thought
to myself, "I don't quite understand it, but apparently I'm so funny that I
can make people laugh without even trying to."

It wouldn't actually have been a 10 foot fall, for those who were worried.
I would have hung on to the top with my hands, then let go. That would have
made it a manageable 4 foot drop.

Whenever I bring fresh nip in from the garden, mine eat it too - even
the dogs, even though they probably don't get the "fun" effects of it as
the cats do, it's more of a "hey, whatchaeetin? Me want... nomnomnom,
hmmmmmmmm minty....."

I don't know what it tastes like, but it *smells* great, like blueberries
and mint. It makes me want to put it in a pie.

It doesn't have a big effect on humans, except to relax them. A lot of
people drink catnip tea for just that reason. (If Pat is still reading
this newsgroup, she might have more to say about its properties.) In any
case, you could put it in a pie. Someday, it might become Takayuki's
famous blueberry de-stressor pie.

This recipe may cause some people stress when they see what happens to it
when they leave it on a windowsill to cool.

Or the kitchen counter, for that matter - depending on the type of residents
in the house, that is.

I haven't tried any catnip myself, but I *know* it is a member of the
mint family, and a very prodigious one at that: what started as 4
4-inch-high plants purchased at a local greenhouse/garden center are now
about 40 5-foot-tall (give or take a foot or so) plants that have spread
to areas of the yard where nothing else is growing (yay - sort of, it's
not exactly the prettiest of plants). With all that nip in the yard,
you'd think every feral & stray in Bloomington would be camping in our
yard... but if they are, it must be at night because we never see them!
