Yowling?
"Yowie" wrote in message ... What does yowling mean? Shmogg is 15 give or take a few years. Recently, he's taken up the fine art of yowling, usually within an hour of being fed - sometimes its just a few minutes, sometimes an hour, but always happens after gooshyfood. He ywols every single night after his dinner, and sometimes in the morning too. I've never heard him yowl at any other time. As far as I remember, he didn't yowl before IBKFergus came to stay He'll stop yowling is I yell out to him and say something like "you're a cat, you're grey" or something like that, and doesn't yowl again until the next load of food arrives. Any ideas? He's otherwise a fit and healthy 15 year old who can still beat up a hollikitten and win, so I don't think its just old age catching up with him. Ideas? I should smack myself around the ears some days. I just realised that the yowl he is making is exactly the same yowl that he makes when Levi, next door's cat, comes around. The Yowl, only after food, and only since IBKFergus arrived, is Shmogg's way of saying to IBKFergus "Bugger off, this food is mine". Of course, he doens't yowl when he's actually eating (he's too busy stuffing his face) and of course, thats when IBKFergus eats too. But once Shmogg has finished gorging himself, he'll look around to see IBKFergus eating food as well, and will try and scare her off. If she doesn't leave, he'll beat her up and guard the food bowl and its leftovers so she doesn't come back. Of course, he spends most of his time sleeping, so IBKFergus has plenty of oppurtunity for eating whats left (and there's always kibble available too), but it all makes sense now. Thanks everyone. Yowling?
I'm so glad you found an explanation for the yowling, Vicky.
Soncek yowled for two nights a few days ago. We had some snow and the snow ploughs woke him up in the middle of the night. They weren't really noisy, but for some reason Soncek yowled as if it was the end of the world. There was nothing I could do to calm him down. As the ploughs moved on he eventually fell asleep again. Best wishes, Polonca and Soncek Yowie wrote: "Yowie" wrote in message ... What does yowling mean? Shmogg is 15 give or take a few years. Poor Soncek! I hope you gave him extra cuddles.

There's a little walkway that goes past the cats' enclosure here, and an equally small plough, which makes an awful lot of noise for such a small thing. Caliban is terrified of it, but Miranda stays outside and glares at it as it clatters by. Luckily they haven't ploughed during the night. Yet. -- Marina, Frank, Miranda and Caliban. Lots of best wishes for the little plough to be needed as little as
possible even though I am aware that you get much more snow than we do, Polonca and Soncek Marina wrote: Aww, poor Soncek. I hope he's not woken by any more snow ploughs.
