Your relationship with Stinky was similar to the way I treated Tony in his
last couple of years. He was a senior citizen and if he didn't want to
follow all the rules, he didn't have to, he had earned it and that is how
life with Tony was. He got to make the rules after certain point (I don't
remember when) even though he was still healthy. I always felt a kindred
with you over the similar ways we felt about our elder statesmen. Stinky was
well loved by you and you by Stinky, and isn't that what the "Velveteen
Rabbit" tells us is what makes us real?

My thoughts are with you.

Bridget

My sweet boy declined sharply over the weekend. His breathing is labored,
he is too weak to walk, and I woke up in the middle of last night with him
peeing in my bed. He wanted to walk around anyway, and he staggered
around with me following him around. I don't want him to have any more
nights like that. So I will send him to the Bridge today. I will spend
some quiet time with him, then his appointment at the vet is for 4:30
this afternoon (EDT). He is all cozy on my daybed right now, and I will do
some serious brushing and combing.

Thank you all so very much for all your purrs, and most of all, for
sharing my appreciation of this wonderful, special creature. Stinky has
always made friends easily, in cyber space as well as IRL.

Stinky is and was a very, very special cat. I loved him without ever
actually "meeting" him in person. We're with you in spirit, all of us
who have had to say that last painful farewell to a beloved companion
cat.

I'm so very sorry Theresa :^(

Stinky was a legendary cat and has joined the pantheon of Great RPCA
Cats waiting at the RB. I'm sure he, Ted, Romeo, Dusty, Schmogg,
Bandit and many others are sharing BCTs and hoomin training stories as
I type. I'm also sure that Dave Y is there to keep tabs on them and
to join in the laughter and jollity. Rest in Peace Stinky; your slave
did a magnificent and loving thing today in putting her own broken
heart aside so that you could be free from pain.

Great big hugs,
Tish

I am so very sorry that is time for Stinky to go to the Bridge.

We are never, ever ready when the time comes, of course.

I'm glad that Stinky didn't have a long, slow illness, that would have
made the decision of 'when' so much more difficult. I know that is
little comfort, now.

I lit a candle for Stinky as soon as I got home; it's in my very special
candle holder, in the shape of a sleeping cat.

Purrs are on their way for your broken heart, too.

will only be so many, and then there will never, ever, be any more.

I'm so sorry to hear that Stinky's gone downhill so suddenly. We all
loved him, and it's hard to say goodbye. It's so hard that their
lives are almost fleeting.

I'm so very sorry to hear that, Theresa. Purrs on the way for his safe
passage and more coming for your broken heart.

Everyone here has fallen in love with Stinky over the years. May the
trip to the Bridge be calm and sweet.

I'm so sorry Theresa. He was indeed special.
