Default Lizzie got hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a bit late in posting this, but last Thursday, Lizzie and Moe had a
bit of a fight, and Lizzie got the worst of it

Moe must have caught her right front leg (near her chest) pretty good
with a claw, as Lizzie was bleeding pretty bad (there were splatters all
over the bathroom - we didn't know it was that bad until we saw all that
blood!).

Unfortunately, she's the type that has to be under anesthesia in order
to check her wounds - and with me not being a vet... she bit me pretty
hard on *my* right forearm... didn't break the skin, but even now, 5
days later, I have 4 dots on the inside of my forearm, just below the
elbow, that are Lizzie-fang-marks. I look like a vampire had really bad
aim

Lizzie, BTW, is no worse for wear, no limping, and DH (I don't want to
get bit again) checks her for any infection every evening (we figured we
would take her to TED only if she shows signs of NOT healing).

We did keep her confined for about 24 hours, just to make sure, and when
we let her out, Barney started in on her, she *HE* got a "time out"
(with Bam Bam just for good measure).

Cats are now getting claws trimmed a bit each day - they barely tolerate
it, but at least they won't draw blood like that again!

Poor Lizzie. Purrs for her - and your - arm to get better without
complications.

Caliban had a scratch near his eye this summer. I think he got too close
to Kasper or Linus for their comfort. It was so near his eye that I
didn't dare use any disinfectant on it. I just kept an eye on it, and it
looked perfectly dry and clean all the time, no infection, so I just let
it heal by itself. Taking him to the vet from the island would have been
a whole big production, but of course, I'd have gone through with it if
there had been any sign of infection.

You don't expect a cat to produce all that splatter, do you? One time
Smudge came in with a small wound on her foot from a cat fight, and
when I picked her up to investigate, blood went all over the wall. It
looked like a scene from CSI.

We did keep her confined for about 24 hours, just to make sure, and when
we let her out, Barney started in on her, she *HE* got a "time out"

Good solution. Purrs for Lizzie's owie.

as with all cat fights, PRAY that none of the wounds are deep and that
none of them abcess. Abcess surgeries are messy, tedious and not to
mention expensive.

I'm glad that Lizzie isn't too seriously wounded.

It's a good idea to keep a close watch on the laceration, as infection
in the way of an abscess can get started so easily.

Purrs on the way for her to heal up with no problems!

Lizzie *seems* fine - all is back to "normal" in the house. The spat
was spurred by too many cats thinking that they are the Alpha. We have
reminded them that *WE* (DH & I) are Alpha.

On another note, yesterday evening, Barney and Bam Bam were having one
of their usual wrestling matches, and Annie (d-pet) inadvertently broke
it up. All she did was go over to them to see what was going on (and
probably to see if she could join in), and they noticed her and broke
apart and went their separate ways.
