They're known as trolls.

But you SHOULD also notice that no one replies to them/him/it.

Yes, I've been very proud of this group. In most groups there is at
least one person who will respond to a troll. I still wish Thunderbird
had the killfile option, but at least I can just ignore them.

On the rare occasions we do get an influx of trolls (usually crossposted
from irrelevant groups, snip those, please!) we post recipes. They lose
interest when we simply stroll away from their inflammatory agenda.

And for the persistent trolls, killfiles are wonderful things.

Yes, they are, if you have that option. That's one of the things I miss
about OE. Thunderbird doesn't seem to have it.

Of course Thunderbird offers killfile. Open the post, then click on
Message, Create Filter From Message. Choose the filter criteria and
select Delete as the action. You can run the message filters right
after you set it up so those posts are immediately deleted from your
view. Unless they start nymshifting, you won't see them again. If they
nymshift, now you know what to do.

Thunderbird does offer that option. They call it filtering. See my
reply to your other post. Any questions, email me.
