John has a friend whose granddaughter had to move and, for whatever
reason, couldn't take her cat with her. So they asked if he'd take
her. She's an 11 year old calico named Precious. Naturally he didn't
want her to be dumped in a shelter, and he loves cats, so he said yes.

He brought her home two days ago. Of course she promptly hid. LOL He's
got both gooshy and dry food for her (the granddaughter gave him all
the cat supplies she had). He already had a litterbox. I warned him
before he got her, it's going to take her a while to adjust to a new
home. (When I brought Persia here from Tennessee she hid for two
weeks, only coming out at night to eat and use the litterbox.)

In the middle of that first night Precious got up on the bed with him.
He awoke to kitty whiskers tickling his face She gave him some head
butts and let him pet her. He drifted off again, happy and convinced
she'd curl up next to him and go to sleep. Wrong! While he was
sleeping Precious got down. She probably did a little exploring. When
daylight came she was hiding again. He was so disappointed!

I said honey, you have to be patient. Cats don't like change,
especially not an 11 year old cat. It will take some time but she'll
get used to her new surroundings in her own time. I think it's an
excellent first step that she got up on the bed to check him out that
first night

How lovely. She has already shown him that she quite likes him, I think
she will soon come out hiding. As you say, they don't like change but she
will soon adjust to her new home and slave.

She's probably thrilled that the d-o-g things are gone.

Best not start me on this.
