Default Cat-sitting Again

I've been cat-sitting for my neighbor since August 1st. She'll be gone
until the 16th. This time she made sure she had enough Fancy Feast (the two
boys split a can twice a day). However, they're also both of different
prescription diets of dry kibble. I was given very specific instructions
about how much kibble should be in the bowls, practically measured in
inches. So, she has enough R/x kibble for one cat but I know there is not
enough of the dry to last that long for the other. Arrrgh! What do I have
to do, knock her on the head?! She ran out of cat food the last time!

Trust me, I know the prescription food is expensive. (I've been feeding
Persia prescription food since her initial bladder issues in 2004... and
now, kidney problems.) But if she can afford to go jaunting off on
vacations, surely she can make sure she has enough cat food? Am I wrong?

Sorry, I'm just venting again. It just ticks me off.

She probably doesn't think about it, because she can just run to the store/vet and get more of it. Pretty annoying though, from your perspective. Wonder if her vet would allow you to pick some up and charge her account? I know mine would, but we have a pretty lengthy relationship, and he knows who watches my kids.

It could just be poor planning, but it's inconsiderate at best.

Don't be sorry, it's good that you care.

We use the same vet. But I'm not sure she has an "account" for them to
charge. I'll have to call to find out. Of course it's Saturday, so they
closed at 2 o'clock and they aren't open on Sunday. There's enough of the
food to last through the next week if I dish it out judiciously. I just
think it's inconsiderate of her to not have enough food on hand. She asked
me to cat sit nearly a month ago. She should have planned better.

Especially since it's prescription food. If it were ordinary cat food,
you could just go to a grocery store and have her pay you back when she
gets home. A cat on prescription food needs extra care!

Yes, she should have. Did she pay you back for the food you had to buy the
last time?

*****************

I didn't buy any. The last time she went out of town she split the
cat-sitting duties between me and another friend of hers. Me the first
week, the other friend the next. I called and left a message she was
running out of the R/x kibble. But then the other person took over the cat
care. I don't know if that person bought any R/x food or not. I'm not sure
just anyone can walk into the vet's office and say they're buying a bag of
prescription food for someone else's cat.

An aside: You really do have to have a prescription for this food. With
the exception of this past week, I generally buy Persia's R/x food from a
practice that has never treated Persia. It's not as far a drive, saves on
gas money. But they wouldn't sell the food to me until Persia's vet faxed
over a prescription.

You need to vent here, since it's hard to get mad over there when the cats
come out greet you like, "Oh, the food lady!"

They certainly do that! Fedders is a small cat but you wouldn't know it by
the way he eats! Schwartzie has a few pounds on him but he's very laid back
when it comes to food. He still meows hello when I show up
