Any suggestions..

We adopted our 9 month old kitten on Saturday. We are making leaps and
bounds with the socialization. He now lets us pet him when he is in
his little house - but does not let us hold him. He is just starting
to come out of his house (a very little bit) when we are in the room.
He has not used his litterbox yet (we changed his litter tonight to a
new type - hoping he just didn't like the type - it was recommended -
but very wierd). He hasn't pooped but has urniated twice - once on our
bed when we surprised him by walking in the door...we didnt even know
he was in there..and last night in the middle of the night on our
bedroom floor. He is neutered...

We let him roam the house all day - but we don't think he leaves his
room (he has a whole empty room for himself). At night we have been
closing his door and he crys and crys...so last night we let him roam
thinking he wouldn't cry..WRONG! Instead he cried in our bedroom - and
urniated.lol He wouldn't let me hold him or touch him and basically I
am running on only 3 hours sleep each night since we got him. Last
night was the worst between the crying and the urinating...

Am I bad for wanting to close him in his room tonight? He has toys,
food, water, litter box, bed and a little kitty condo.

Any suggestions to help make him feel more comfy in the house? We did
buy the feliway - but it says to spray in the room and wait 20 min to
let him back in. If we are walking up and about - he does not leave
that room.

HELP?

Have you had him checked for a urinary tract infection? Most cats
won't just pee indiscriminately. Aldso, Cat Attract litter may be of
some help:

He pooped and peed in his new kitty litter!! YEAH!

Sounds like he's coming along just fine! It just takes a little time
somehow. After all, from his point of view, he's been kidnapped! And
probably not for the first time in his life. Just keep being kind to
him and eventually he'll realize the situation is not all that bad :

It may be a texture or smell thing. Chase was really picky. When I ran
out of my regular litter, I bought something else at the grocery store
where I work. My regular litter is at he pet store, and I knew I
wouldn't be able to get there for a few days. Well, I found out really
quickly that Chase does not like pellets. He peed on my bed and
refused to use that litter. I got some other stuff, similar to my
regular litter, and he jumped in and started digging.

Since then, he has matured a bit. He is not quite as picky, but he
still shows his joy at a fresh box of really deep fine grain litter.
