Victory!

Chez Chapman is now a nappy (diaper) free home! And no bed wetting either.

Victory!!!!

(Sorry, its a big thing in my life and I wanted to share. 4 years and 4
months of cleaning up peoplepoo was enough for me)

Congrats Yowie!!!

I'm having a sterilization procedure done this coming Friday. Part of
Jody's reasoning is that short of two years, we've been cleaning butts
for over 10.

Excellent!!! My almost-5 year old nephew was very stubborn about
toilet training, and scared his parents to death. OTOH, his 18-mo.
old sister is determined to ditch the diapers.

warning! Talk of nappies, poo and toilet training!

The problem had always been "the night nappy".

Cary could stay dry during the day from before his third birthday. He had
to - the requirement to go into the 'big' class at daycare was that they
could take themselves to the toilet. Not that he ever went to the toilet at
daycare, he'd just hold it all in till he got home. Even now, he's got a
steel trap for a bladder, and no matter how much he drinks, won't need to
'water a tree' until 5pm - when he gets home from daycare on his daycare
days.

But we weren't sure about nights, so always put on a nappy at night. And as
soon as a nappy (diaper) hit that little butt, he'd poo. So it was getting
to the point we'd put the first night nappy on, wait 5 minutes, and then
change him with the 'real' night nappy.

We'd had talk after talk about pooing in the toilet. He understood very well
where poo was supposed to go. occasionally he'd play on the toilet, and a
poo would appear. We knew he could do it, but clearly there was some
association between nappy and BMs.

We'd tried variosu threats and bribes, but a few months ago I found some boy
underwear with Buzz Lightyear (his favourite superhero) printed on them. I
took said packs of undies and pinned them up on the wall around the toilet
and he would get a pair of undies for every poo that he put in the toilet.
After 15 pairs of undies ( a fortnight) we thought we had done it, and of
course, since we'd run out of undies, we stopped iwth the prize.

And he stopped with poo in the loo.

We sighed, tried not to make a big deal of it, and figured he'd have to have
it sorted by himself sooner or later.

But a few days ago, we had gotten home late and had forgotten to wait for
the Yowlet to go through the motions, so to speak, and just put his night
nappy on and went to bed.

We woke up to him smothered once again in excrement - the poo he'd done as
soon as that nappy had gone on, and had subsequently slept in (poor tyke).

At that point, we thought cleaning up a wet bed would be better than having
to deal with any more poopy diapers, and just said "No more nappies, you are
a big boy now".

He hadn't wet the bed once, and after 4 days of holding it in, finally went
on the toilet without being asked or told to do so - he just took himself
there, did his business, and then presented his butt for inspection and
cleansing.

Now all we have to do is teach him how to wipe his own arse with TP rather
than baby wetwipes, and then we'll be totally free of peoplepoo. Now if we
could just train the cats to go on the loo.....

Congratulations, Yowie - not sure about the history there, but I'm sure
you're glad not to be changing diapers anymore!
Hugs and purrs,

Another milestone in the life of the Yowlet. Congrats to al of you.

My O T cat uses the bathroom. You would be amazed at how angry people get
at that. I have a couple of relatives who, if they go to the toilet and see
that it needs flushing from cat poo, get all frustrated and say "why do you
let him do that?" Let him, I wish he would teach the other two to do the
same.
