I've just been giving Shadow some scritches and he distinctly purred. I
thought I heard a purr a few days ago but wasn't completely sure, now I
am. :-)

You are slowly going along the path I went with Boyfie, it took years before
I could shut my door so he could have a quick escape.
One day Shadow will get on your knee, when all is very quiet. Two years
from now he will snag your sleeve to remind you he's hungry.

It does take years. Now, Boyfie is happy to be shut in the house all night
and he uses a litterbox in emergencies. I like my cats to be inside during
the night.
Not that KFC will stir from in front of the fire now, ever. She knows her
limitations.

He'll be a happy lap-cat yet!

I hope by winter I'll be able to shut the door, not that it's exactly warm
now. I prefer to keep mine in at night as well, if the weather is bad Snoopy
will hold on all day until I put the box down at night.

All cats are special, but it just seems extra special when the wild
ones start to trust us. It literally took years with Rocky. For the
longest time I was just one of the detested hoomins. Then for a couple
years I was the hoomin who filled the food bowl. Once he decided to
let me pet him, with a couple months he surprised me - well maybe
shocked is a better word - by jumping into my lap. After he made that
leap of faith, he quickly became an integral part of the family.

Nice progress, Adrian! I remember the first time I heard Miss Pua
purr. It's so rewarding, isn't it?

It certainly is. :-)
