No, Persia, you cannot have a pet lizard :)
It was sunny yesterday for the first time all week. 70F, slightly breezy,
no humidity. The first thing I did when I got home was open windows. I have two large glass doors (they open inward) in the living room. They have sliding screen doors on the outside. I opened one of the doors. Persia was happily sitting there, sniffing the fresh air and watching the birds and squirrels. Suddenly there was a scuffle! A tiny lizard had gotten in between the track for the screen and the open door. Persia went "Oh! Look! A funny moving toy!" She was determined to grab it and bring it inside. No, Persia, you cannot have a pet lizard! LOL I had to close the door to save the poor lizard. Persia was very disappointed with her mommy. [An aside: I've got to get those screens replaced. It would be nice to be able to open the doors on nice days without critters getting in. The gaskets are shot so they come off the track easily when I try to slide them open. I've got one of them permanently open so I can go out on the patio without a hassel. They definitely don't go back *on* the track easily. And there's a big gap between where the screen fits and the door-jamb (or whatever it's called). All spring/summer long there are anoles (lizards) that crawl between the screens and the glass doors. So I can't just open the doors and enjoy nice weather. It kinda sucks But I think they're custom screen doors, an odd size. I have no idea where to get them replaced. Just one more thing for my home improvement to-do list. (sigh)] Jill |

Usually rather than have someone out, I just take my old, damaged screens and door in and have them make new ones. Usually not as expensive as I fear. People handier than I am can do their own window screens from materials they pick up at Home Depot, but I can't. Jo |

When I was living in a rental house in California, my indoor-outdoor cats were always bringing them in. More than once I found a tail (sans lizard) and once or twice I later found the much debilitated lizard and put it outdoors. Evidently they had been without sustenance long enough so they were more-or-less inactive. However, there was one I found who was not - when I picked it up, the darned thing squirmed around and BIT me! Knowing nothing about common, garden-variety lizards, I promptly got on the phone to a hospital Emergency Room to inquire whether they were poisonous (and was assured - by a voice fighting laughter - that they were not). I must have provided their staff with its laugh of the day! |

One got in her during the winter (the fool) thinking that this was a nice warm toasty place to wait out the cold. Sonya got him. Pam S. |
