You can specify in your posting headers that you don't want your post
archived. It's up to the server whether to honor this. Google Groups does.

Another nifty header I like to use is X-Face:

It lets you put a very tiny black and white graphic above your post. It
requires that your reader has newsreader software that recognizes and
displays this. (My newsreader, Xnews, does.)
