interferon omega
I have been searching for Interferon Omega for my Kitty and think I have figured out how to get it. The FDA Division of Compliance can accept a request from Vets to order medicine from other countries. Once the information is faxed to the FDA, they will then send out a letter approving the purchase of medication. www.abbeyvet.com in London does supply Feline Interferon Omega. This treatment according to the research has been the best in extending the lives of kitties. Has anyone used this in the treatment of their cat? |

Go to felineleukemia.org & sign up for their talk list. Many people have a
whole lot of experience with this that they will be happy to share with you. "dawn g via CatKB.com" wrote in message ... I've administered Interferon Alpha to a FeLV+ cat, but never heard of Interferon Omega. -- Cheryl "The clever cat eats cheese and breathes down rat holes with baited breath." - W.C. Fields |

I believe that this is feline interferon,,not yet available here in US but
can be gotten with FDA approval by vets who complete what I understand is fairly simple paperwork... "Cheryl" wrote in message ... Thanks Chris. Good to know! Story from my vet about Interferon (alpha) when it was first being used for cats: She said when she first found out about this miracle treatment, she prescribed it several times. In the beginning she thought she was seeing amazing results! As time went on though, the percentage of cats getting better and cats not getting better were equaling out. We had long discussions about this when my Shadow was on it. Because of his IBD/auto-immune problems, Interferon was not contraindicated. One thing you don't want to do with auto-immune issues is introduce something that stimulates the immune system. Poor cat. It was a lose-lose situation for him having both FeLV and IBD. Prednisone for the IBD weakened his immune system. Interferon to boost the immune system whacked out the IBD. It was rough. -- Cheryl "The clever cat eats cheese and breathes down rat holes with baited breath." - W.C. Fields |
