Default I Saw a Pretty Kitty

I was leaving work yesterday and I saw a very pretty kitty. It was
sitting on top of a cement slab over a sewer grate.

I first saw it trotting along the grass by the shop. Then it sat down
on the concrete slab. It was sunny so that would be a nice warm spot
Then the cat started washing it's face. The cat turned it's head and
looked at me as I drove by. Bright blue eyes! The kitty appeared to be
a mostly grey and white tuxedo... it might even have been a light
calico. I didn't really get a close look at him/her. But it was a very
pretty cat.

I have no idea if the pretty cat has staff or is feral. I do hope the
cat doesn't run out into the road. I'm working in a tire shop. It's
located off a main highway. People are driving in and out of there all
day, 6 days a week.

On day two my boss, Ana, and I were just chit-chatting. Getting to know
each other. Naturally it came around to my mentioning Persia. I asked
if she's a cat person. She said no, but then she's never really been
around cats. She wasn't raised having pets. Neither was I.

I was allowed to have parakeets. She said her mother (who lives in
Mexico) has birds. So I told her the tale of how Persia came to claim
me. About how sweet and loving she was.

I wonder how Ana would feel about having a shop cat?

If it's like a tire show room, then it would at least be more cat friendly
than say, a car wash!

Hypothetically, would a shop cat commute home with you at night and on
weekends?

LOL!

Nope, I'm still not up to adopting another cat. It sure was pretty, though!

Ask her. Although if there are houses nearby the cat may well already have
a home.
Ah, I see all the symptoms of you missing having a cat, just like me missing
having a dog. Lennie has filled that hole for me. If you keep seeing the
cat and you are worried she is homeless, try and put a collar on her and
attach a note like "if anyone owns this cat, please attach a note in reply"
If he/she arrives back with your note still on the collar two or three
times, I think you should take her home, Jill. Call it a sign from Persia.

Tweed

P.S. Hope the new job is going OK. More money for cat fudz Boyfie sez ;-)

Yes, it was a rhetorical question. Ana would not invite a shop cat
or a shop dog, for that matter.

I haven't seen the cat again. I do suspect it lives in one of the
nearby homes.

Sorry, but I wouldn't do that. There are a *lot* of feral cats around
here. Even if that pretty cat was one, I am not willing to take on a
feral cat. Besides, I'm not home during the day anymore to supervise. LOL

If/when I decide to adopt another cat it will be from the kitty branch
of the Beaufort County Animal Shelter. The Tabby House. A play on
words since "tabby" also means an old (1700's) type of brick & mortar
made from crushed oyster shells. $30 adoption fee includes required
shots, spay/neuter and microchipping. And you can go in and see which
cat selects you. They let them roam around.

P.S. Hope the new job is going OK. More money for cat fudz Boyfie sez ;-)

The job is going well, thanks for asking!

Um, tell Boyfie, not yet gonna spend money onna cat food.

Frankly, Persia was such a perfect cat I can't see how I could adjust to
anything different. Loving, snuggly, smart, funny, playful. So very
sweet. Very rarely "aloof" (which is how I hear so many cats described).

And, again, I'm no longer home 5 hours a day five days a week. This is
*not* the time to adopt a cat.

What would I do? Adopt a cat, say, "Here's your new home." Then say to
the cat a day or two later, "Sorry, gotta go! You know where the food
is! There are some toys on the floor."

That wouldn't be fair to the newly adopted cat, would it? Where did she
go? She's not here. Is she coming back? What's going on?!

No. The timing is not right to bring a new cat into my home. And, as
I've said before, I don't know that I ever will. But I can still
appreciate them when I see them and enjoy kitty stories.

My sentiments exactly.
Don't think I will get another cat.
I am getting older and don't have much energy to take care of another cat
the way I did with Rusty.
But I love to greet my neighbours' dogs and cats.
Watching cat videos always make me smile.

Well, the secret is to get TWO cats. That way they entertain each
other while you're gone.

That's exactly what I do. If not having to go to work five days a week was
a prerequisite to adopting a new cat, there would be a lot fewer adopted
cats!

Particularly with Spicey, I deliberately left her alone more than I needed
to at first when I saw that she was hissing and hiding and not settling in
when I was around.

They're cats, so they enjoy both their together-time and their alone-time
in various proportions.

Well, sorry to say everyone I'm not willing to take on another cat (or
cats) at this point. I'll still enjoy listening to and sharing kitty
cat stories.
