Default Nursing mum question

Hi there,

My cat has recently had her first (lol, and only) litter of 4 kittens (3
weeks ago). Everything seems fine with the newborns and the mother seems
fine and is adopting to her new role of mum very well.

My only concern is a strange smell that seems to eminate from the mother,
not really a 'No.2' smell, but not pleasant. I'm planning to take the whole
familly to the vet for a checkup in 1 weeks time, but wondered if anybody
here could give me any pointers to the possible cause of the odour, is it
normal ?

Many Thanks.

IMO a phone call to the Vet would be a good idea. If they think you
should bring her in immediately it might prevent a bigger problem.

I don't know what it is, but I'd ask to bring the mother cat in sooner;
perhpas the odor is an indication of an infection, related to the kittens'
birth??

I'm with Karen there, there could be something wrong. And one week's
delay could result in mom ceasing nursing. If that happens, it's curtains
for the kittens.

And possibly mom if it's a bad enough infection.
