Update Miranda is going for her vaccs
"Marina" wrote in message ... It went just as painlessly as I anticipated. It was a new vet, and she immediately agreed that we can wait a couple of years with the distemper vaccination, but she said the flu vaccination is pretty important because there is a virulent calicivirus around. Since Miranda loves to be out in the enclosure, I think the flu shot is a good idea for her. The vet checked Miranda over and oohed and aahed about how beautiful she is, while her Meowmie just swelled with pride. She's put on 200 grams of weight since her last check-up, which is a good thing in Miranda's case. It means she's not just skin and bones any more. I had thought that she had put on a little more muscle during the winter, and it seems I was right. She still doesn't have one gram of fat on her. There was the most gorgeous four-month old Aby boy in the waiting room. He hated being in his carrier, so his human took him out and he wriggled around in her arms. Oh, he was so, so cute. Just now, I took my afternoon nap with the cats (even Caliban slept under the blankie today) and I had a dream about the Aby boy! His owner had left him with me and I was trying to get a picture of him to show you guys how cute he was. Aww, I love Abys. Little monkeys. A friend has three Somalis (longish-haired Abys, gorgeous cats) and two big quiet dogs. The cats are always climbing all over the doggies and giving them gang baths. The dogs are sweet mutts who aren't sure WTF is going on, but wouldn't dream of trying to stop them. -- Theresa and Dante Stinky Forever: http://pets.webshots.com/album/125591586JWEFwh |

"Stormmee"
Lee don't worry about it. That OP has ended up in so many kill files for doing the same thing to a lot of people. |

Overvaccination is the cause of a lot of health issues, so it would be wise to be a minimalist where vaccines are concerned. Please take a look at this website which offers an excellent collection of information regarding vaccines and new protocols and can help you make an educated decision about vaccinating your kitties:http://critteradvocacy.org/ Whoa guys CHILL...... this guy JUST was stating his opinion and I don't find it snotty at all. there are TONS of opinions on vaccinations, and it is the vets responsibility to inform the client of the latest research and then the client's responsibilty to decide what is best for their pet. As a vet tech I have given the same speech to all clients regarding vaccines and some owners both dog and cat just choose not to vaccinate... There's no need to get hissy at anyone people. |

its not the subject matter, it is the tone of it the ...thing of the past..
and other statements like the poster had the definite answer, you doing what you do as a profession are someone who i would invite a discussion with, and give your opinion heavy weight, and if i were in your practice i would expect you to bring it up because you could show me medical research from legitimate sources, you would know my cats and their history, and so on, like i said before, i don't give all of what tradition says you should, but that was after discussion with a trusted vet and tech who know the history of my cats, and further if we are going to have this discussion it really needs its own thread to explore all of it, i hope i didn't upset you, as i do actually agree with the position of being very careful as to what you give each cat, Lee "Mischief" wrote in message ... so glad it went well, the "frvc" is the one shot our vet is really strong
about, especailly since we have so many, Tiger is a SR. kitty and OEJ is not strong constitun wise, so that one keeps down the passing it around, again so glad it went well, Lee "Marina" wrote in message ... Thank you, Mischief. I was offering information in a matter of fact way and that was all. There was an opportunity in a discussion to offer helpful information, especially with the now known threat of vaccine associated sarcomas, and I took it. Cancer of this type, or any type for that matter, is a hell no pet or pet guardian should ever have to endure and if there is a way to increase the odds of avoiding it, I don't see what the problem is with offering whatever is necessary to inform and educate. Unfortunate;ly, this is too close to my heart as when I posted that I was trying to distract myself from dealing with a heartbreaking decision. My vet will be here in a few hours to give my darling 19 year old Gemmy the gift of rest. She is dying from adenocarcinoma. We tried IP Carboplatin as a palliative therapy but it is not working and she is declining rapidly. I know it is the right thing for her but the guilt, the pain of losing her, the wondering if I could have done more or if I should have done chemo at all is killing me. I wish I could hold her tight until the time is here, but she is so ill and feeling so down that the best I can do is just be next to her and hope that she can feel how much love I have for her. I will not be replying here anymore today as my energies need to be focused on her. In awhile she will be at peace and I will be at her side until the end. Take care and never apologize for trying to help. As a vet tech I have given the same speech to all clients regarding vaccines and some owners both dog and cat just choose not to vaccinate...
