Annual vaccinations are a thing of the past. New vaccine protocols
have been in place for quite some time and vaccines for rabies and
distemper should be done every three years at the most. I don't
vaccinate my adult cats more than once now and if there is a concern I
can run a titer. Overvaccination is the cause of a lot of health
issues, so it would be wise to be a minimalist where vaccines are
concerned. Please take a look at this website which offers an
excellent collection of information regarding vaccines and new
protocols and can help you make an educated decision about vaccinating
your kitties:http://critteradvocacy.org/

Whoa guys CHILL......

this guy JUST was stating his opinion and I don't find it snotty at
all. there are TONS of opinions on vaccinations, and it is the vets
responsibility to inform the client of the latest research and then
the client's responsibilty to decide what is best for their pet.

Thank you, Mischief. I was offering information in a matter of fact
way and that was all. There was an opportunity in a discussion to
offer helpful information, especially with the now known threat of
vaccine associated sarcomas, and I took it. Cancer of this type, or
any type for that matter, is a hell no pet or pet guardian should ever
have to endure and if there is a way to increase the odds of avoiding
it, I don't see what the problem is with offering whatever is
necessary to inform and educate. Unfortunate;ly, this is too close to
my heart as when I posted that I was trying to distract myself from
dealing with a heartbreaking decision.
My vet will be here in a few hours to give my darling 19 year old
Gemmy the gift of rest. She is dying from adenocarcinoma. We tried IP
Carboplatin as a palliative therapy but it is not working and she is
declining rapidly. I know it is the right thing for her but the guilt,
the pain of losing her, the wondering if I could have done more or if
I should have done chemo at all is killing me. I wish I could hold her
tight until the time is here, but she is so ill and feeling so down
that the best I can do is just be next to her and hope that she can
feel how much love I have for her. I will not be replying here anymore
today as my energies need to be focused on her. In awhile she will be
at peace and I will be at her side until the end. Take care and never
apologize for trying to help.

As a vet tech I have given the same speech to all clients regarding
vaccines and some owners both dog and cat just choose not to
vaccinate...

I'm so sorry you have had to make this decision. It is one of the most
dreadful and heartwrenching decisions any of us have to make, but it really
is a final gift of love for our wonderful feline companions.

Your original message was not unpleasant or negative at all. I thought it
had useful information presented in a matter-of-fact way. I appreciate
receiving that type of information, whether it is in response to one of my
own messages or whether I read it in a thread started by someone else.

Take care of yourself and try to get some rest. You will need it after
being with Gemmy in her last moments (and throughout all that came before).

I wish I could have send Stinky to RB at home. We are sending you purrs for
this difficult day, for Gemmy to have a peaceful transfer, and for you to
find peace with your decision. I know everything you're feeling very well.

I am so very sorry to hear that. The loss of Cleopatra a few months ago
is still fresh in my mind, so I understand your situation. My thoughts go
out to you and to Gemmy.

We've lost a few really great cats in the past few months, haven't we?

I am so sorry to read about Gemmy - my heart goes out to you as it is always
so hard to say goodbye even when you know it is for the best- hugs from me
and purrs from my kitties...

Also, since my four kitties' vaccinations are coming up again soon I am
going to be reading the useful information you posted - thank you.

Default Update Miranda is going for her vaccs

Marina wrote:
It went just as painlessly as I anticipated. It was a new vet, and she
immediately agreed that we can wait a couple of years with the distemper
vaccination, but she said the flu vaccination is pretty important
because there is a virulent calicivirus around. Since Miranda loves to
be out in the enclosure, I think the flu shot is a good idea for her.

The vet checked Miranda over and oohed and aahed about how beautiful
she is, while her Meowmie just swelled with pride. She's put on 200
grams of weight since her last check-up, which is a good thing in
Miranda's case. snip

Great news!
Best wishes,
Polonca and Soncek

I'm totally with Matthew on this as well. And the diot is in my litterbox.
I loathe people who try and make others feel stupid, and none of us are.
Yes, he is a snot and yes Marina knows what she's doing. No worries on
anybody's part, okay?

thank you makes me feel better, Lee
"Matthew"
"Stormmee"
Lee don't worry about it. That OP has ended up in so many kill files for
doing the same thing to a lot of people.
