Thanks, Victor, for posting a link to those beautiful words. I was just
tiny, but during those times, my parents always brought to my attention the
most important and idealistic thinkers, the ones they admired and tried to
follow and support. And many of them sadly didn't survive. Crappy dose
of reality for a little girl, but as someone said just a couple of days ago,
the dream lives on.

Yes, thank you Victor for posting that beautiful link.
And I totally agree with what Theresa just said.
I can't believe it was that long ago.
I graduated from High School in 1963.

I wound up living in/near where MLK was killed. Memphis. It's not an easy
thing for a city to live down. And it hasn't. Hatred is perpetuated in
politics. LET IT GO. And don't post about it, please!!

OB Cats: Persia is curled up on Mom's living room sofa. Mom keeps saying
"she's not allowed on that sofa". Yeah, right! I wasn't allowed on the
living room sofa when I was a kid either. Heheh

Memphis is a great city. Rich in history and culture; lots to do there
and I found the people
very friendly, even when we got lost in a rough part of town :-)
Lots of cities have historical black eyes, but it doesn't become their
identity. Can't
speak for anyone else, but I don't automatically associate Memphis
with the MLK assasination.
It's just a secondary fact in the story.
The important thing is like Theresa said, that the dream lives on. An
amazing human being with an
even more amazing vision.
