Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease
Persia has eaten one version or another of Hill's r/x kibble for a
decade. Thankfully she LOVE LOVE LOVES the food. :-D I don't LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging. The zipper seal on the bag doesn't seal well at all. I pour half of it into a tightly sealed plastic bin. The food that I don't pour into the bin I have to fold it over and put on clamp on the bag. It still goes stale. It didn't occur to me until this month to complain about it via their web site. They seemed surprised. They emailed back for details (UPC codes, etc.) They even mentioned hmmm, no one else has complained. Well hey, it took me TEN years to bring it up! LOL The result? They apologised and sent me a $10 off coupon in the mail. As the subject line says, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Jill |

Judith Too bad they didn't ask me to test the product packaging way back when. I'd have told them. I guess I was irritated the last time I bought her food and was again annoyed by the zip thing not sealing well. I do testing for products from time to time. I get things in the mail to use and provide feedback about. Persia's food, nope. I did get a free bag of cat litter for Persia to test once. Jill |

Jill ~~~~~~~ You really shouldn't need to do this, but my thought was that you could protect the contents better if you fold the package over and staple it *several* times. Possibly fold again and use the clamp. Don't open until the bin is nearly empty. That way, you will only have to tear through the staples once. MaryL |

I do have a decleater. Jill |

You would only need to open the bag once if you pour half of the bag into your bin, then wait until the bin is almost empty before tearing the bag open. Of course, you would need to take some care not to let staples fall loose because Persia will be in the area. MaryL |

MaryL I've been in the habit of years of just putting the food from a newly-opened bag into a plastic container with a tightly-sealed lid. This is a result of carelessly leaving food in a sturdy paper package within the reach of a cat who decided that food obtained through a hole chewed in the bag is tastier than the identical food in a bowl on the floor. -- Cheryl |

Jill We always dump all kibble (whether dog or cat) into bins (we wash out and reuse the buckets that 30+/- pounds of clumping cat litter come in, like this one http://amzn.com/B0018CJVPY) and dispose of the bags as some certain kitties that will remain unnamed *cough*Ernie*cough* love to chew through the bags (either paper or the new, tough plastic ones) to get to the goodies inside. Then some other -erm, SEVERAL other kitties will scavenge some kibble. Then the hole gets enlarged by the dogs, who really, really, REALLY enjoy their new-found snack (especially if it's cat food!). |

I'll wait until I get another bad one and let them know the lot number. |
