Default OT : This really made me mad

Last night I was watching G4 channel with my oldest daughter, it is the
channel where they show all of the new video game reviews. Well they
reviewed this new game, supposedly for the teenage crowd. What upsets
me is the main focus of the game is street drugs and even more drugs
"invented" for use in this game.
What I don't understand is how can the industry be allowed to release
Sh*t like this? I intend to write a rather lengthy letter to the
company, as well as the T.V channel. Just needed to get this off of my
chest. What the h**l right do they have to promote this cr*p.

I can understand your anger. I get the feeling that some people have no
morals whatsoever.

There is a game widely available on the internet called DopeWars as
well. Its like a stock trading game.

I saw Trainspotting, a film about drugs, a few years ago.

It is a great film in its way, but I never want to see it again. It is a
great film because it vividly depicts how low drugs can take you (I imagine,
not having been down that path myself). That is also why I never want to see
it again. It is deeply unpleasant.

It has a place though because it does not glorify drugs, it condemns them.
It also has an 18 certificate (in UK).

Glorifying drugs in computer games is just stupid. These games will
obviously appeal to teenagers and are just what society does not need.

So write your letter. Get a petition together! I am sure we are all with
you.

Do whatever you like if it will make you feel better. As long as lotsa
people buy them, they'll keep selling them.
As w/drugs it's supply and demand.

Is that the same one that gives you extra points for killing the prostitute
after you have sex with her in your car (I'm really not kidding - there is a
game that features that along with drug taking and theft!)?

No, no, I believe you're thinking of one of the Grand Theft Auto games (several locales for sale). Gentle souls should not pursue looking into these type video games.
The other day I was shopping online for a lighted keyboard and the video games were right in the same link....found one where the cop has a choice to start doing the very drugs he busted from the dealer (or he can choose not to). Personally I think most of these amusements are for adult males (one of my very own sons - a grown man - and his friends, law-abiding males who appear normal in every other way - play "roles" as
medieval warriors, etc. and play "hack-em-up" Attilla-the-Hun-type PC games. It must satisfy some hormone we lack, for which I feel none the worse....

This is true, I still can't figure out the male fascination for football,
boxing and especially professional wrestling. But then again, DH can't
figure out why I need a cigarette* after finding a paticularly good sale on
shoes! ;

*Just kidding, come August I'll have been "clean" for 2 whole years now!!!

If you mean "clean" from ciggies (I don't think shoe sale addiction is
curable) congrats early from someone who's
not had a puff since 3/84 - I quit long before anything but that
awful-tasting gum was invented: cold turkey they called that kinda quitting.
It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Cigs were $8 a carton then
ROFL.

LOL - Yep, I meant cigarettes not shoe sales. I quit cold turkey too.
Once, years ago, when I quit, the gum helped me only in that it tasted so
bad I would talk myself out of having a nicotine fit just so I wouldn't have
to chew it! ;
