Getting the Cat to Pay the Water Bill

Three or so years ago we bought one of those small desktop fountains
(the kind you are supposed just to look at). Very quickly we saw it starting to become a kitty drinking bowl. So a cat-orientated fountain would probably be better, but don't be suprised they like any kind of fountian. Styer One of mine loves tap water, and I think he drinks recreationally just to play in it. Which is good, because he's old and needs to drink lots of water. I think fountains likewise encourage them to drink *more* than they would out of a bowl. The funny part is when he sticks his nose in the drain. He seems much more fascinated with where the water goes than where it came from. Sherry |

My kitten does the same thing....he is fascinated with the drain and the
water running down the drain. Keeping his head out of the kitchen sink drain (with the garbage disposal) has been a challenge. I just don't get his fascination..... Sue "Sherry " wrote in message ... Yoda's fascination was likewise with the garden hose. He was sticking his nose in it once, and my DH went to the other end, cupped his hands, and said "Yoooooodddaaa" into the end. Yoda jumped a foot off the ground. It was so funny. Like he was saying, "IT KNOWS MY NAME!!" Sherry |

My cats have always loved desk top fountains, sinks, etc. I had a cat that
turned on the faucet regularly. One weekend, I went to the beach, leaving them alone for all of 36 hours, with lots of food and water set out for them. I came home and the water baby cat was meowing at me frantically from the moment I walked in the door. When I entered the bathroom, I discovered why -- she'd turned on the *hot* water, and the porcelain sink was itself very hot to the touch. She never turned on the faucet again, and I never again left my cats alone for more than a day without having someone check on them. Daria Timing is everything. |

Cinderella jumps up and puts her mouth at the faucet to tell me to turn it on (who trains who?). See them at the link below. Yours is a great site -- beautiful cats. Keep up the good work. MLB |
