....with a fat, 16 lb. cat snuggled on my lap and her front paws draped over
my left arm and her head laying on top of them? Persia has been unusually
snuggly lately. I don't know if it is the colder temps here in West TN or
what, but I can't make a move without tripping over her or having her all
over me. I love Persia, but sheesh! Can't a girl go to the bathroom without
a cat giving love nips to her knee? ROFL

Soncek also is snugly these days. Or more correctly these nights. During the
day he lies next to a radiator, but in the evening, if I read in bed, he
comes and lies on my stomach. And at night he lies on my shoulder. This is a
huge improvement for a kitty who is definitely *not* a lap-cat, which is
what I would love him to be. I do wish this behaviour didn't stop in summer,
but I suppose it will. Oh well, I'll enjoy it while I can.
Best wishes,

I know you *think* you'd like him to lie there in summer, as well, but trust
me, you don't! Nikki sleeps on my legs all year round, and it can get very
sweaty and uncomfortable in the summer, when it's hot anyway. Add to that
that Frank likes to curl around my head... Try sleeping with a thick woolly
sweater on your stomach in the middle of summer. ;o) That's how it would
feel if Soncek slept there.

Soncek sounds like a very sweet and affectionate kitty. In the
summer, I used to shoo Betty off my lap when I was getting too hot.
Now that it's winter, she's adapting a bit, and is starting to beg to
let her get under the covers at night. When she lies on my stomach,
I'll fold the blanket over her (if I'm awake). Sometimes, she'll paw
at the covers next to my shoulder, which means that she wants in. I
think she does that more often than I've seen, since I'm probably
asleep most of the times she does it. If I happen to be conscious
enough, I lift the covers so that she can get in.

Soncek really has come a long way from a kitty who did not even want to be
petted to lying on my stomach while I'm reading in bed. A year or two ago I
was giving up hope that he would ever become more loving. I even warned him
that if he doesn't, I'm getting another kitty who would want to cuddle. That
didn't help at all. What did help was that I've read Cats for dummies and
now I understand him quite a bit better and do not necessarily insist on
petting him when he is not in the mood.
Tak, you sound like you are a wonderful paw to Betty. Are you sure you
wouldn't want to be adopted by another kitty also?
Best wishes,

Does he curl up and go "flat" when he curls up on your stomach? I
love it when they curl up and totally relax their neck and shoulders,
so that that the head and back become one flat surface. When Betty
does that, she seems to dissolve into my body, and it almost feels
like I'm petting myself.

You also have one kitty! Some people say that ferals generally
socialize better with other cats than most domestic cats, because
they've been socialized to cats rather than people. But I do want to
eventually get Betty a friend.

It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job with Soncek, Polonca! So glad
to hear he is becoming more of a lovebug.

Yes, he does. It amazes me that he trusts me because when I take him in my
arms he goes all stiff and tries to get away from me. But I guess when it's
on his own terms things are a lot different for him.

He is and I love it. I do admire other people's patience with feral cats, I
don't think I could be like them. But on the other hand Soncek is a
semi-feral kitty and it took me 4 years to get to where we are now.
