I am affraid I agree with Lesley. The only reason I am on the FB
version is to keep up with the posters that no longer use the news
groups. I hate to say it but in my opinion the news groups are on
their way out. :-(

One of the advantages of Facebook is be able to easily share photos, there
some really beautiful cats there.

For this particular newsgroup, posting is even more easy - email it to
me and let me use my umpteen thousands of unused gigabytes of memory and
hang it on my web site. ;

Cut.

Is this a site about cats, or is it about facebook?
Or a deliberate attempt to scare people off netnews?
If so, it works........

What is this "site" you speak of? What is "netnews"?

Its just thread drift. Its started off with a pointer to this groups
presence of Facebook, hit a nerve, and the thread took off. Sometimes that
happens, and the thread drift quickly steers away from cats. Thats what
happens in an unmoderated (or even lightly moderated) group.

It will come back to cats once people calm down again. Not because we
'ought' to be talking about cats, of course, but rather because we can't
*not* talk about our gorgeous kitties.

How are yours? What are they doing right now? How are they preparing for
winter?

Yowie

Au contraire, I'm far more "scared" of Facebook and Twitter than I ever
was of the ordinary Internet!

I presume she is speaking of Usenet, since rcpa is a Usenet Newsgroup.
