I am sorry, Lee

We've just got back from having Muriel put to sleep. By this morning
she'd got too weak to move about any more and had no interest in food
or water. She still purred right to the end.

It didn't go very smoothly, she kept pulling her leg away when the
vet put the needle in. So she had to be sedated first. The sedative
must have given her a dry mouth as she started smacking her chops -
the last thing I could do for her was to soak my handkerchief under
the tap and squeeze water into her mouth. She seemed contented after
that.

She's curled up in the hallway wrapped in old shirt of mine, for
the other cats to see. She looks very peaceful. Splodge has been
sitting beside her ever since I put her there.

We're going to bury her beside Ishmael in the garden. They hated
each other most of their lives, but mellowed towards the end, and
when Ishmael was dying Muriel was snuggled up beside him all the
time.

Bless my little grey friend.

A prayer is going up right n ow for b oth of you: that her trip to her
retirement over the Bridge be nothing but peaceful, and that you and your
family be comforted. It's never easy. At least she is free though, and such a
n ice place Up There that she and ishmael couldn't find much to squabble
about.

Blessed be,
Baha

Consoling purrs to you for the loss of Muriel. When they're that weak
and sick and lose interest in living, the kindest thing is to send
them Onward, even though it's very hard for those of us left behind.

So sad! I send blessings for her trip over The Bridge.

Kind regards, Micha

Thanks for the support, everyone.

It was snowing when we buried her, fine now. We'd planted
crocuses on the grave beside her for Mingus and Zeke, and
they're just peeping through. So we'll find some snowdrops
to plant over her.

I love it when people plants flowers near a grave of a pet or person.
Prayers still for your loss.
