Here is another question...I gave Jasper the first dose of prednisolone last night. Over night, he left us what seems to be a VERY loose stool in the litterbox. (diahrea?) Is this common? Could the pred be helping his bowels get a-moving and thus the loose, but large bowel movement? Diarrhea is one of the possible adverse effects of prednisolone so is depression and increased appetite - although I wouldn't consider an increased appetite an 'adverse effect' for Jasper. It also increases secretion of gastric acid which could certainly make him feel sick on an empty stomach. You might want to speak to your vet about an antacid to minimize that affect. Another caution: prednisolone causes some cats to drink and urinate more which can lead to potassium depletion and hypokalemia. So, you might want to speak to your vet about a potassium supplement. As a last resort, you can try baby food, just make *absolutely sure* that the baby food doesn't contain *any* onions in *any* form. Cats develop hemolytic anemia and can *die* from ingesting onions. Best of luck. Phil |

Did you try baby food w/ him? Baby food? No. I was going to go out for some kitten food today. Baby food is okay, too? Any particular kind? Yes, baby food's fine as a short-term diet. The only thing is that you want to check the ingredient list & choose ones that don't have onion in them. I'd pick whatever Jasper seems to like - chicken, beef, whatever. Probably a variety, in case one's a hit & another's not. Cathy |

I began letting her lick it off of an iced tea spoon, but found she preferred to lick it off of my fingers. She would eat that when she would not eat anything else. |

"kitkat" wrote in message news:xSTRd.10161. http://public.fotki.com/kitkatluna/m...jasper_dudley/ Besides the cats' pics, I took a look at a bunch of the other photos here. You've done some nice travels. I am sort of mad at myself for not having gone to Père Lachaise cemetery when I was in Paris. In my case, not specifically for Jim Morrison's grave, but just in general. Where was your hotel? - the view looks nice. And as an aside - IMO it looks like you're one of those lucky people who always looks good in photos! P.S. the reason I mentioned giving him water with a turkey baster is because it holds more water than an eyedropper. Less refills. Well, we just gave him his first prednisolone pill. About 12 hours sooner than the vet had instructed, but I want to get this boy feeling better...ASAP! We'll give the turkey baster trick a try, too! I just did some reading on the hepatic lipidosis and clearly...this is something we want to AVOID at all costs! I can not imagine the poor guy having to have a feeding tube, not to mention you have to feed them 4-5 times a day and both Tim and I have full time jobs. Oy! Pam You're right, re; the fatty liver disease. Cheryl (of this ng), for ex., went through that scenario big-time w/ one of her cats. Cathy |

I recall having to take the Metro (subway) to get to it. It was way across town from the left bank where I stayed. |

I recall it was called the Relais and it was centrally located on Rue Magenta I think. I'll have to dig around to see if I can figure it out. And thanks for the nice comment about lookin' good in photos. 8) You're right, re; the fatty liver disease. Cheryl (of this ng), for ex., went through that scenario big-time w/ one of her cats. Eek! I would *really really really* like to avoid that! (obviously!) Tim just got back from the store with some baby food so we'll be trying that! Pam |

In RL you look like someone I'd like to have coffee with. And Chicago is one major city I have never been to and would really love to see. If I ever come I'll email you to see if you want to have coffee. I live in Raleigh, NC. Nothing here but a big suburb, a bunch of schools, and way too many technoyups making too much money and driving like insane fools. Ahh, home! |

We live in a 4 unit condo building that was built in the early 1900's and is considered a historical landmark in our town (Evanston, Il.) It definitely has a lot of charm! I actually have a ton of friends in the Raleigh area. We may be down there some time this year. Pam -trying to feed Jasper baby food...but we just gave him is amoxidrops and he seems to be afraid to open his mouth right now. He doesnt like the surprise medicine attack! |
