'Cat Lady' Wins Fight To Keep 150 Pets At Home
Neighbors Say Cats Using Yards As Litter Boxes

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Central Florida school teacher known as the "cat
lady" who was fighting to keep nearly 150 cats at her home will get to keep
her pets on property.
A Volusia County judge ruled in favor of Kristy Grant Thursday after being
cited and receiving complaints from her neighbors
The county fined Grant over her so-called animal sanctuary at her home in
Pierson.
Grant's attorney said Volusia County is in the dark when it comes to rules
for cat hobbyists in an earlier report.
Neighbors begged the county to ban the animals and complained that the cats
used their yards a litter boxes.
Grant said she installed a fence to keep her neighbors happy.
The judge ruled in Grant's favor Thursday, saying there is no law limiting
the number of cats she can have, Local 6 reported.

It's all well and good if she can take care of all those cats. Sadly, most
"hobbyists" can't but they don't realize it. She doesn't seem to be one of
those, thankfully. And the video report indicated all her cats are
spayed/neutered and have county tags.

She is one of the good ones that is why I have been following the story
it all started out by the county lying and saying that she did not take care
of the cats but when a news crew went there she had complete documentation
for all cats when the council was confronted the news reporter had the door
slammed in her face. She even went of Dr.Phil and the city people were
caught lying on national TV. It all has to do with the land being wanted by
a developer

She has suffered a lot BS neighbors lying county workers and a mysterious
fire but she won

Sometimes, good does win. Rarely it seems these days.

I just did the math on 150 cats; between litter, wet & dry food a day. It
amounts to about $75 a day per cat for wet food (that's based on one can a
piece - not including any kind of special food for some!). $75 a day for
dry food, again, not counting on any special needs kitties. $96 on litter a
day. $246 a day - and that's not including vet bills!!!!

In her defense, this is purely based upon what my 3 masters consume daily.
I divided what we spend and multiplied that by 150.

I think if she can afford it and she's saving precious lives, more power to
her. But dang! That's a lot of money a day!
