Default What to do to a sleeping cat

I wonder what one should do to a sleeping cat? I've been facing this
dilemma for as long as I've had Betty.

Sometimes, I feel like I should let her sleep as soundly as possible,
and I tiptoe around her and do everything quietly.

Sometimes, I think I should let Betty know that I love her, even when
she's sleeping, and try to communicate that to her without waking her
up. I'll sneak up to her and pet her gently, or stand a few feet away
from her and whisper to her. My hope is that she'll dream about how
much I love her. But often, this wakes her up.

Often, I just kiss her, because she looks so cute and kissable. This
wakes her up most of the time, but she's getting used to it, and will
just settle back down again. My favorite spot to kiss her is on the
back of the head.

Sometimes, I wonder if she's cold, and I'll check the temperature of
her extremities by gently taking the tips of one of her ears between
my lips. If the ear tip is cool, then I'll grab a blanket and tuck
her in.

Anything else I could do?

Roll her on her back and rub her tummy?

Take her picture ... and post it somewhere.

Fleagor was sleeping in my chair last night: I already had the camera
out for the "Three on a Shelf" page
(http://gearbox.maem.umr.edu/tdavis/cats/031106/three_on_shelf.html)
and there he was. I tacked the picture on to the bottom of that page.

You might have a point. I haven't really taken too many pictures of
Betty sleeping. Your "Three on a shelf" pic is great.

I like poses such as Snowball was doing in the picture, but some cats
are prettest when they are sleeping, falling asleep, dreaming, or
waking up - or funniest.

I'll let the dogs back in again tonight - maybe I can get a sequel
picture ... or something even better. (I'v had the dogs less than two
weeks, and the cats come first, so I've been keeping the dogs mostly
outside - last night it was cold (and they refuse to use their dog
house) so I let them in for a couple of hours.)

oh, you're just as bad as I am. Jazz can never sleep through unless I'm also
sleeping. He is contantly being petter, kissed, his toes are rubbed, his
back is stroked. Poor baby. I bet they love it, though, all that affection
from their meowmies.
