Default Help needed for cat with hard stool and wheezing

I am desperate to find out what is wrong with my almost 4 year old
spayed female. She has been to the vet more than a dozen times and
they have not been able to tell me what is wrong with her. Currently
she is wheezing, has a limp occasionally, and very hard stool. The
stool is also spiral shaped. She will scoot across the carpet leaving
stripes.

She has been put on a stool softener Lactulose recently. That seemed
to help a bit but with the wheezing the vet put her on Clavamox so I
stopped the stool softener. She now has very soft stool that slips
out without her knowing it. So we stopped the Clavamox and her
wheezing is back. The vet said that she would be giving her an anti-
biotic shot this coming Monday if the wheezing came back.

Some of the vets she has seen in the past shaved her rear so the poop
would not stick and that was mostly all they did. The recent vet
clinic has done blood work and x-rays with nothing found. We have put
Flamazine cream on her rear as well as Hibitane cream. The cat is not
getting better but worse. Does anybody have any ideas as to what is
wrong with my cat?

constipation is nearly always diet related - try a very small portion of
butter say 1/4 of a teaspoon. Most cats like butter but too much is not
good for them but a small regular dose for a few days should soften her
motions. The other symptoms sounds like a parasite infection, maybe in
the lungs or even heart worm (cats can get it as well as dogs) Make sure
she is not eating faeces.. she may respond to a short course of
corticosteroid tablets BUT bear in mind that after about 6 weeks the
original symptoms can come back and it tends to mask the diagnosis of
cancers if present so be cautious about this form of treatment. Some
vets prescribe corticosteroids as they know the symptoms go away but
unfortunately it does nothing for the longterm diagnosis of the
underlying problem.

i hope it is a simple case of treatable parasites or worms.. I've been
down this path.
