Weird Scary Chester Experience - any ideas?
Gosh, Susan I hope he's okay. Please let us know.
Maybe he just got his claw hung on something and that freaked him out, maybe it's still hurting some and that's why he's hiding. Injured cats do hide. Don't their pupils normally dilate in a darkened room normally? I'm also thinking a brain event would only affect one pupil. Purrs that Chester just had a minor mishap and is just being a drama king. I sure hope so. I'm very worried about him. *I'm trying to figure out how I can possibly catch him and take him to TED, since I'm worried he might have had a stroke. *His eyes are still quite dilated. *Or that he got a bite from some creature that might infect him. Could he have had a mini stroke and it scared him and he ran like that because his back legs weren't working? Since he did cut his foot couldn't the same you heard have been something caught on or around (tangled as you say) his foot? Something with a thin cord or string or like that? He worked at it and pulled it off but only by inflicting some damage. I would carefully inspect every place you can tell he was for blood or a broken or removed something or other. |

Lots of purrs on the way that whatever happened does not have any serious consequences - not that the bloody claw isn't serious in itself. I hope you can get him to the vet. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

Susan M Otis and Chester Quite fond of your *boys, I offer this: only alarming part I find is the continued dilated pupils...question: when you see this, is it in the basement, where he emerged from a dark spot and they would be dilated from that anyway, or are they dilated in bright daylight? I was told by my vet in FL that Sylvie's dilated pupils On Friday, when Jebediah was afraid (after the incident with Smeagol), his eyes remained dilated nearly all day, even when he ran outside briefly. They are back to normal now, were the day after the 'fight', but it did freak me out that he looked so scared. SD (Annie) (never varying in strong sunlight even) were total blindness caused probably by blows to her head, thus detaching her retinas. Chester might have seen a raccoon trying to get in the screen (raccoons are very smart at stuff like that) and got his claw stuck in screen, thus ripping it, and then heading for the bedroom with the disturbed dresser top. As I have frequently stated I don't have much of an imagination....I can't knock Fred for wearing earplugs but it's a good thing you don't. I wouldn't dare wear them as the idiots residing on the "garden level" apt. (bottom) under mine run an unregistered daycare center and regularly instigate stove fires bringing my 'burb's "finest" to fight same at any and all hours of the night....- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - |
