Fortunately, cats CAN swim, if they have to - I understand that in rural
areas they even catch fish. On the other hand, although I've heard of
cats who find water fascinating, most of them prefer to avoid it.

A friend had a cat who was so mesmerized by the water in the tub, if it
got into the bathroom when she was bathing, that it tended to fall in!
(She learned to have TWO bath-towels handy - one for herself and one for
the cat.)

Wonderful story - that put tears in my eyes.

But I do wonder why the cat was with him in the truck to begin with?
The article said she was an indoor cat. No suspicions about the guy, I'm
just curious how she happened to be there. He seems like a good guy.

As an aside, I wonder why the windows wouldn't open? The water pressure
on the windows would be pressing against the glass, which shouldn't prevent
it from rolling down into the door if someone is cranking the window
opener.

Overflown? I thought that was what U2 spy planes did, back in the
60s. The rivers OVERFLOWED their banks, is more like it.

From the story, it sounded like he was taking the cat from wherever he
lived to safer ground. In fact, his mother said he went back to his
home, which was at risk of flooding, in order to get the cat and bring
it with him to a safer area.

Electric windows short out when a vehicle is submerged, making them
impossible to open. Every so often around here someone goes off the road
into a pond or the ocean, and as a result of news reports on such
tragedies, some people carry a rock or hammer in their cars to break
through the windows if they should ever find themselves in such a situation.

That is what overflown means, and it is applied to things like
aricraft and birds, not to rivers.

Let's not try to confuse the Doctor with facts, and actually the image of
rivers flying over the province was mildly amusing for a second or two

But then it was back to business as usual
