It could just be virus, we have a nasty one here at the moment which is causing humans to have severe vomiting problems, maybe it's something similar. Judith When I told my vet that Shamrock was also vomiting, she told me the same thing, that it could be viral or bacterial, as in just a "bug" but to keep an eye on them. Sammy ate a little more today, but still not up to his normal appetite. Shamrock hasn't eaten anything but has had a little water. Vet gave me some anti-nausea med for both of them to take 1x per day in the morning for up to 4 days, but if in 2 days there's no improvement in either, to bring them back. Sammy's blood work was perfect, only the white cell count was a little low presumably being used to fight of whatever is going on. Thank you all for the well wishes and purrs. I'll keep you updated. I'm sorry they're sick, but it does sound as though they're on the road to recovery. Purrs will continue. Joy I had to trick Shamrock to get some food into him. Sammy ate some soft food with a little warm water in it, but Shamrock wasn't going for that or any other food. One thing he can't resist is shrimp. I microwaved 2 frozen ones and chopped them up small and mixed them into some regular canned cat food with a little extra water added. At first he rejected the bowl, but now he's eating. I just hope he doesn't throw it all up later. I'll be watching both of them. That's good news. Purrs for their recovery to continue. Judith Sammy is practically back to normal today and eating, peeing and pooing well. Good energy. Shamrock isn't eating as much as I'd like him to eat so I might take him to the vet for some fluids which perked up Sammy. I have to go into the office tomorrow, so Friday Shammy will go, and likely get blood work done. he's due for rabies shot but he isn't getting it until he is well. -- CAPSLOCK–Preventing Login Since 1980. |

Purrs for Sammy?
"Cheryl" wrote in message eb.com... Hi guys and Happy new year! I know I haven't posted here much lately but I skim the group to keep up. Anyway, I wanted to update you on Sammy the Maine Coon. Well, he's not feeling so well. On Saturday he started vomiting up all of his food and hasn't eaten much since then. I even found a puddle of liquid vomit without food in it yesterday, just saliva and there was a good bit of bright red blood in it. snip We just don't know what's going on with him. Please keep him in your thoughts. He will be 10 years old on 4/5 so he isn't very old. Thank you! ~~~~~~~~ How is Sammy doing now? Please update us. MaryL |
