Human note: when I took Lorelei in for her checkup, blood tests and
vaccinations, I had so many questions for Dr. Cartlidge, that I didn't
remember to ask if her records had her date of birth.

And they did

I have never known the birthday for any of my cats.

I always knew how old they were...plus or minus 4 or 6 months..., but
now I have the actual date for my sweet Lorelei, so I can celebrate it,
by giving Lorelei too much gushy fuds on her birthday

I wonder if the deeply disturbed woman I adopted Lorelei from, who told
me she was a lynx point Siamese cat, actually BOUGHT Lorelei from
.....somebody.

In addition to the 4 1/2 lb. (less than *2* kilo) mini Pomeranian d*g
she was carrying with her when she opened the door, and never set down,
the whole time I was there, she had another Siamese cat.

I wonder if she bought Lorelei from a 'basement cat breeder', and thus,
as is normal with 'breeders', was given the date of birth.

I never asked about 'papers' given that she so OBVIOUSLY wasn't a
Siamese.

The woman did see fit to 'educate' me about the differences between
apple head Siamese, and the 'traditional', or as I call them : 'show
Siamese'.

I just let her babble on.

Obviously, Lorelei is not even half Siamese given that the Siamese coat
genetics tend to be at least partially dominant, to a greater or lesser
degree, given the many alleles that determine cats' coats, in an F1
cross.

She is almost certainly at least an F2 outbreed from Siamese....or just
a pretty tabby cat with blue eyes.

She was probably completely irresistible, as a kitten.

Then, she grew up.

If Lorelei was purchased from an extremely disreputable 'breeder', I
don't want to know about it.

But, it would fit with all the other borderline insane...well, some not
so borderline... OK: MOST of it wasn't really borderline things the
woman told me.

AS soon as I saw her carrying the mini-Pomeranian, when she answered the
door to a complete stranger, enormous red flags, accompanied by flashing
lights, sirens, and fireworks, should have gone off.

But, having lost Kenzie too recently, I wasn't thinking as clearly as I
should have been.

But the important thing is that, through a fairly long series of events,
I was able to adopt Lorelei, when she needed a BETTER home, than she had
before.

I can't say I'm giving Lorelei the absolute best life possible....she
might enjoy having another cat, to keep her company, and perhaps do a
better job of teaching her to play, than I have

And perhaps she would have liked a big house, with many big windows, and
a nice, safe, fenced in yard in the suburbs, free of the threat of fleas
and the other risks found in the OUT where I live.

But, I do know with absolute certainty, that she IS very happy here, and
that I love her to bits

I've had cats in a 3 room apartment and they were happy.

You are giving her the best life she can have. She has someone who loves
her. Cats are happy staying in the house.

You can make things interesting by giving her things to explore, a
cardboard box or a paper bag.They don't need expensive toys to be happy.
