The other day I was in the supermarket and they had some cat toys so could I
resist? Of course not!

Last night I got the new toy out- it's a big glittery fly on elastic with a
bell apparently it's supposed to be scented with catnip but judging by
Dunzi's lack of interest either it isn't or it's not the good stuff! Sarsi of
course loved it and went mad for half an hour or so giving herself a good
work out

Came to bedtime and I didn't want to leave it lying around as someone could
have eaten the elastic string (Dunzi ate a bootlace that was longer than she
was when she was very small) or ripped off the bell and swallowed it okay
they've probably got more sense but I'd rather err on the side of caution
than be hit by a large vet bill.

Anyway I put the toy back in it's bag and put it in the kitchen drawer

Woke up this morning to find the drawer open and Sarsi curled up on a chair
with new cat toy between her paws!!! She's obviously worked out how to open
drawers

What next?!

She doesn't eat canned food- they get pouchies instead so I suppose she'll
work out those next!

Ozzy learned how to open up their treats can (the bags don't count since I
figure any cat could chew through them):

Don't get me started! My closets here have sliding doors. Not the
usual lightweight metal ones with or without mirrors. These are heavy
slabs of wood that take a fair amount of effort for a human to open.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to phase the cats - especially
Cendrillon, who is the smaller of the two. However securely closed I
THINK they are, she manages, by repeatedly slamming against the door
with her full weight, to get it to slide open a crack. That's all it
takes, so however firmly closed they are when I go to bed at night, they
are always open wide enough to accommodate a feline tenant by morning.
My kitchen cabinets only have spring-type hinges, no latches, so I'm
always hearing them slamming, thanks to the insertion of a paw. (I
think she likes the noise they make.) However, today she wasn't content
with opening them and letting them slam shut - I must have wakened her
as I headed into the kitchen to make breakfast this morning, so was
greeted by a sleepy kitty head pushing the door open from inside, and
emerging from among the pots and pans!

Isis (RB) used to sleep in the cupboard under the kitchen sink- we stored
carrier bags in there and she would make a nest of them
