cats stack napping hoomin
I stretched out on the sofa for a little afternoon nap. Soon Emily joined
me, claiming her spot on my lap with big happy purrs. I was just drifting off when Max hopped up by my feet, walked along between the back of the sofa and my side, and settled in on my arm, resting his head on my shoulder. Then Pea showed up. He made his way down from the back of the sofa and onto my shoulder (narrowly missing Max), and curled up on my chest. I gazed lovingly at my three cozy kitties for a moment before closing my eyes, and then - Emily began to snore. Pea draped the end of his tail across Max's face. Max stretched, rolled on to his back, and put a hind foot on Emily's rump and a front paw on Pea's head. And then I was laughing so hard I couldn't fall asleep! Brenda |

Brenda How sweet; they incorporate you into their sleeppile. I always love it when Stinky settles down on me (usually on my chest or stomach), and proceeds to act as if I am just another piece of furniture-- clean himself, watch the window from there, etc.-- pushing himself up to see better without giving up his seat-- this usually involves plunging a paw DEEP into some soft tissue of mine. I imagine if Persias was three cats I would have the same problem! Jill |

That sounds lovely, though I'm quite happy that my two don't sleep on top of me - Frank might curl up around my head and Nikki might rest her head on my legs, but that's as far as they'll go. -- Marina, Frank and Nikki Email marina (dot) kurten (at) pp (dot) inet (dot) fi Pics at http://uk.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/frankiennikki |

I sometimes wonder what they're thinking. Apparently, I'm a very desirable piece of real estate, and the ideal spot to curl up and fall asleep. Even with newborn kittens, you never see them nap on top of their mothers, so you wonder where they pick this up. |

Be glad - both Roxy and Smudge like to sleep on top of me, and while it's adorable and sweet, it's not the most orthopedically healthy thing. Often I wake up with some cat on my hip, twisting my lower back painfully. Maybe they're getting kickbacks from my chiropractor. Joyce |

We combine the best of all possible worlds, a food source that never lets them go hungry, affection, cleaner of messes, provider of entertainment, and a perching place. What more could a self respecting cat ask for? (How about alt.cats.world.domination? PC esq.) Pam S. trying to ignore Pine Cone |

You really owe it to her... Pam S. |

Even with newborn kittens, you never see them nap on top of their mothers, so you wonder where they pick this up. Almost from the minute I brought Stinky home, as soon as I sat down, he would be in my lap, and as soon as I lay down, he would be on top of me. I had never had a cat who was such a cuddler before, so I was surprised, especially when I was watching TV, and the little mite first jumped into my lap, then gradually crawled up my chest so he was right under my chin. I got the sense that from his POV, by sitting down and "making a lap," or lying down on my back and exposing my belly, I was signalling him to jump on. Ooofff!
