PetSmart Santa

For those of you who live in the US, you probably know about PetSmart
having a Santa for people to have their animals take pictures with.
They then donate $5 of each package which costs $9.95 to the
organization taking the pictures. I volunteer for a no kill shelter
here and this is our weekend to take pictures. I've been doing this for
several years, so I've seen a lot of different things come through. But
one came through today that was the funniest we have ever seen.

First of all, if an animal is scared, we allow all the time it needs to
get used to Santa. We don't rush. If it takes 10 minutes and people
have to wait, then that's how it goes. There was a little terrier who
finally consented to be on the stand with Santa and was no longer
shaking, but he did it his way. He stood on the very corner as far from
Santa as he could get and then leaned out over the chest Santa was
sitting on - so far it looked like he might fall over to the floor. It
was one of the great photos of all time. We couldn't duplicate that if
we tried. Unfortunately it was polaroids, so we didn't have a negative
or digital photo to get for our records.
