"Debby Hanoka" wrote in message m... Tweed, I'm so happy to read this! I'm so glad KFC isn't ready to go yet! I enjoy your post telling about RPCA's Most Esteemed Elder Stateskitty. She was very glad to have the assistance of Kitty Schottland, nursekitty, when she was at her most poorly. She sez fangu verrymuch. |

KFC's weekend
"Smokie Darling (Annie)" wrote in message news:282ae807-186d-4eb1-8930-infection I would like to take her back to TED and say "look! look at her now, you were nearly giving up..." I won't though, it would cost me another consultation fee. I might phone him. I probably would, but then I have that desire to say, "I told you so", oftentimes to my regret smile. Well, there is a little element of "I told you so" in it, I have to admit ;-) But mainly I would like to explain to him what I did that got her up and running again, in case there are other owners at his surgery who would like to try that, rather than opt for the "put to sleep" option at the first hurdle of CRF + diarrhoea + no appetite. It is hard work though. I realise how old she is and that she has CRF, which can be really difficult to manage, appetite-wise, and we struggle with this on a daily basis. However she is particularly fine at the moment! It's not easy. I'm going through CRF with my Barnabus. He's still early stage, but he does have the very "testy" appetite. He prefers chicken or turkey baby food, though he'll eat beef occasionally. Then if meowmie makes her baked pork, he has to have bites of that. The only "human" food (that I cooked) that he really wants, well that and New York steak. It's so scary when he doesn't want to eat one of his meals, It's one of the worst emotional things, that lack of appetite with CRF. and he isn't the age of KFC, and I can barely imagine how hard it is for you. It's hard. She is asleep on the settee now, having filled her stomach with chopped chicken. She's put so much weight on in the last two weeks that she almost looks like a normal cat instead of a thin CRF one. Whether it is due to the two tablespoons of sugar in each litre of her oral rehydration fluid I don't know. She is on her 4th litre of it. I'm not going to worry about rotting her teeth at this stage, but I am going to offer it to her only ever other day from now on. otherwise she will have plain water. I don't want to give her diabetes to add to everything else. I will soon notice if she goes downhill without getting it daily. Tweed |

KFC's weekend
Christina Websell wrote:
snip Kitty is eating like a horse this weekend. She has put on weight, in fact I would hardly describe her as frail now, she's enjoyed the sunshine and shown no inclination to wander. I will let her out into the garden tomorrow after work and stay with her, I mean I will give her the opportunity that she always had to go out or stay in until that episode of madness that made me confine her to the house. She has improved so much. I don't know what to attribute it to. Your purrs and prayers, the vet's injections, the rehydration fluid, all must have helped. KFC has had a great weekend and because she has, I have too. Nothing knocks my spirit down into the bucket like when my beloveds are ill. Thank you Polonca. You are an inspiration. Tweed I'm really glad if Soncek's purrs and my good wishes help someone. My inspiration are posters and their family members who are ill, and they face their illness with such courage and strength. I often think of you all. Lots and lots of purrs and best wishes, Polonca and Soncek |
