Default Paw Points coupon rip off

Has anyone used their coupons from the most recent Paw Points reward
thing? I got a coupon for "FREE One Fresh Step Clay Cat Litter 14 lb
bag". The maximum value is $5.49. I used it at Walmart and got totally
gipped or perhaps scammed is the better word. The cat litter was indeed
a 14 lb bag and it cost $4.48. According to the coupon, I shouldn't
have had to pay anything for it, it's free. But Walmart only subtracted
$1.67 instead of $4.48. By the time I realized it, it was too late. I
was putting the grocery bags back in the cart and the person I was with
was supposed to be watching to make sure the prices were correct.

Has this happened to anyone else with these Paw Points coupons? They
were supposed to subtract the entire cost of the cat litter, right? I
can't figure out why they'd only subtract $1.67. I don't know if I
should go back to Walmart and give them a piece of my mind or try
calling someone in charge of the Paw Points. I feel silly complaining
over a lost $2.81 but it's the principle of the thing. I wonder if this
will happen when I use the rest of my coupons. At least I have proof of
the mistake. I have another coupon like the one I used which matches
the barcode on the receipt.

I think you should check first with WalMart. It sounds like they made the
error.

IMHO Go back to Walmart. It was the person doing the checkout who
made the mistake. Unfortunately, this is a frequent occurrence -- have
to keep your eyes open. Don't be hostile, just explain that a mistake was
made and show your receipt. MLB

Next time that happens, ask to speak to the store manager.

You shop in a team to avoid mischarges by the clerk? I think you
should charge your partner who obviously totally missed the error.
Matter of fact maybe punitive damages are possible.

The others are right how could you possible blame this on Paw Points
it was a simple error. I agree on making an issue of it just for the
principle of the whole thing.

Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved
body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,
shouting......." HOLY @#$%... WHAT A RIDE!"

Well I thought that maybe the Paw Points coupons were screwed up in a
way that benefited that company (Clorox, Fresh Step, whoever). Don't
they lose money everytime someone uses one of those free coupons? So I
thought maybe they fixed the coupons so that instead of the full or
actual price being deducted at the register, only half or so was
deducted, therefore scamming the consumer.

It wouldn't surprise me if they or some company tried that. I would
think that when the clerk scanned the coupon at the register that the
computer would've taken off the correct amount, so it does make me a
little suspicious. But I guess I'll find out for sure whose fault it is
once I use my remaining coupons. But I think I will complain to
Walmart, just on principles. I hate being screwed over by these big
companies that already have more than enough money.
