Thea & Bono are of course better off and spends another few weeks at my
parents before they return to city life. With the great summer weather we
are having the apartment is hot and stuffy so it's a really good idea for
them to spend more time in the countryside on their veranda and with nice
walkies with my parents -Bono got even worse bugging them to go out after he
managed to catch a mousie the other day, even when he was on a leash.

They had some nice days in the forest by the lake too, T&B love it there.
They get to be "wild" during the days - well under supervision that is - and
in the evening they go for walkies on the leash. There are lots of little
mousies and voles to watch for, and some water voles by the boat house, so
they are very busy there. It's fun to watch these little apartment cats
pushing through the blueberries, only the tip of their tails sticking up.
After some 4 days or so they do need to go back to my parents' house to rest
up for they don't get much sleep with all the activity going on.

Oh no, sounds like another case of voles becoming endagered - or
possible exticnt. As I remember, voles are extinct on Marina's Island,
with water voles on the endagered list.

We have skimmed and skipped through rpca on occasions and even while not
posting, purrs have been going out with special efforts to those most in
need.

Welcome back, Lena. Sorry about your vacation being over. I can completely
sympathize with the heat in your apartment, we are having an extremely hot
summer here also.
Best wishes,

Welcome back Lewe. I'm jealous, The Swedish/Noregian Fjells sound so
beautiful and romantic. Maybe when we get this retirement thing worked
out....

We missed you, Thea, and Bono. Please tell them congrats on the mousies
and voles and good luck hunting them.

well with Nikki in Finland, Bono in Sweden and Waffles in the UK I guess
the vole population in Northern Europe is under control ...

But seriously, I don't think Bono is very likely to put anything on the
endangered list - even if he did play with one until it's batteries ran out
last year ...
He might catch one, carry it to the door and put it down, whereupon the
little mousie scampers back to where it came from, no worse for wear ... If
the voles and shrews I "know" are in any danger it's mostly caused by
themselves, they are *so* careless around both people and pets.
A couple of years ago one decided my bed was a warm, good place and snuggled
up against my leg under the cover ... I carried it out in a tissue paper and
put it on the steps to a shed (no cats around), 10 minutes later I checked
and it was still lying there ... but after a little while I saw a friend of
his come get him and they were off ...
I do think the could do with some survival/self-defence training ...

If you borrowed Nikki and Waffles, the voles, shrews, and mousies left
after they were done would learn survival skills very fast. The way
those things multiply, you don't want them learning self defense.

Oh, I am blushing here - my apologies to the Mighty Hugo Katt, how could I
not think of him?
Please ask him to accept my most apologetic and humble scritches!
We are after all neighbours and everything!

Is it windy enough for you today Elisabet? Well we do need a lot of frech
air after all this heat!
