Felinitations: Receive Only
I'm having an awful time figuring out how to sign up. You folks might remember my post from a few months ago. I'm doing better since then, but my attempts to sign up have just left me confused, bewildered and lost in links and mis-remembered addresses. I haven't got money on hand to send out to everyone on the list this year - mail to the US from Canada is now almost a dollar, and overseas twice that...I just haven't got $100 to spend on mail. Depending on how many people mail me, I might be able to send some cards in return, but I can't promise anything...family has to come first. And I also need some help getting on the list in the first place...I'm still at the same Ottawa address as last year. If someone wants to email me, use warlordenfilade at yahoo dot com. --Fil Yowie wrote: *Folks are aware that they can still be members of the group whilst being "receive only", right? |

I'm now getting rather worried because we are missing quite a few people who were on the list last year - mainly the "receive only" folks. If you want to be recieve only, all you have to do is say. Its very easy to change your status, and is no reason not to sign up to Felinitations. Yowie -- If you're paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes can you fit in a doghouse? None, icecream doesn't have bones. Yowie, As you know, I am not participating this year. However, I have seen so many pleas to be added from both rpca and catslaves that I think people simply do not understand the "receive only" requirement. It also appears that a number of people who were on the list last year either did not receive the invitation or did not understand it. I keep seeing references to "add me to the list," and many of those people seem to think that their names and addresses will be picked up simply by inserting the request in catslaves or rpca. I suspect that the system that was used previously -- simple e-mail -- was more difficult for the administrator but harder for some users. You are probably right. The reason why I"m using Yahoogroups to manage the e-mail is because it may be hard this year, but next year any every year hence it will be alot easier for *whoever* manages the list. If I resign, I can just hand over the Yahoogroup to whoever volunteers next, and all the e-mail addies will be done already. Using Yahoogroups is just a 'better' way to manage all the e-mails, plus it allows people's e-mail addy to remain private if they so wish. If my PC blows up, for example, the Christmas Card list will be safe. If people really can't use yahoo group's web interface, there is another option, but one I don't like so much. If push comes to shove, I might try that one. As of right now, there's 33 people signed up. Thats not bad going, considering the number of people who have said they dont' want to do this year and/or have never replied to any announcement regarding the card exchange. Felinitations: Receive Only
I have a half sheet of international stamps (I'm in Postcrossing - most of
cards go to Finland ) so I'll be able to do some, but not all overseas. I'm USA. Can we pick some and leave some ? Not out of spite - I don't know that many people on the list well enough to dislike anyone. -- /\.../\ ('.') (")_(") Kathy P. & Woodgie "Yowie" wrote in message ... I hate doing that, but with the financial mess I'm in, I can't do cards this year, but getting some would surely cheer me up. Ginger-lyn |
