I have written this post at least ten times, I had a huge list of what i
thought was wrong with several peoples sig lines, the continued gloom and
doom when good answers were given and how i despise both the length of and
contents of certzin posters sig lines. Then i realised to post said
complaints would be hypocritacal.

I truly have a lot of flaws, and they are seriously bad some of them, but
being a hypocrit it is sure is NOT one of them... so what do i do...

I decide instead to tell those of you who are still reading this what I do
like instead in the way of these things.

--sig line links; cmn and mark edwards have the best links that relate to
this group, bear in mind these are only examples so i don't neccearily hate
your link in your sig.

--best sig line in memory of a pet, marina, recognises her two former
owners, in a very quiet and calassy way, while at the same time, moving on
with her life and telling us wonderful stories about the two cats who
currently own her.

--sig line quotes, Joyce and Joy, there is always an interesting quote,
never too long and not always the same...

thank you for letting me rant,

Lee

forgetfullness seems to be one of the flaws, i also meant to say i will in
future follow my own advice, quietly using my kf when i am disgusted or
simply annoyed by peoples posting style instead of ranting about it, again
thanks for reading, Lee

There's a rule somewhere with respect to suggested sig line length. I
forget what it was. Rpca has traditionally either bent or totally
ignored such rules, and really, would we want it any other way?
Content and intent of post has, and should, tKe precedence. We used to
have a visually impaired poster who typed all caps due to her
disability, and we all tolerated and welcomed her break from status
quo because we cared about her and valued her input. Some don't bother
to spell check, some top post, but as long as I can make out what
they're saying it's ok by me. If a persons sig is unusually long I
sometimes trim as I reply but it's not a big deal.

i am sure you are right on all counts, and i know that if hadn't sent the
second post in this thread i would have been a hypocrit, just having a bad
day... I think part of it is that i come here mostly for stories like mark
writes or the one mary L wrote about duffy, not finding much of that, and
alreadying a bit testy i just needed to vent, Lee

Ones that make me feel sad every time I see them, even if I don't read
bother me. To have to read that message every time I post would just break
my heart.

Oh, thank you! I wrote a little program that picks one randomly and
appends it to my posts, so I can have different ones pop up. I seem to
have a lot of quotes about cats. Although not today, apparently.

My newsreader complains if my sig file is longer than 4 lines. It'll
still let me post it even if it's longer, though - it's just a warning.
But I figure the warning is there for a reason, so I try to keep them
to 4 lines, maximum. I might have one or two that go to 5 lines, can't
remember offhand.

If a persons sig is unusually long I
sometimes trim as I reply but it's not a big deal.

The posting software I use has a setting to strip out sig files from
the original post when I reply to it. Usually this is a good thing, but
sometimes I want to comment on the sig file itself - oops.
